Aedile Report 15th May 2005
Introduction
Greetings once again Ziost! It's been quite a week and another good turn out for Ziost. We have won competitions, increased our number and many of those gone Rogue have returned to us. Better still we have Star Wars Episode III just around the corner where we finally get to see Anakin fall from grace or to put it another way, he finally wakes up and smells the coffee!
Another important event is also around the corner, the Independence Games. And yes we have definitely, brazenly plugged this competition to death. Simply put we want to win, not only win put SLAUGHTER our opposition. Exar Kun is now being considered a very serious threat and I would personally feel disappointed if we didn't live up to everyone's expectations. So in short, on the 19th SLAUGHTER our enemies!
Give a Gift - THE RESULTS!
Let me just say, I am utterly disappointed by the submissions. They were well thought out, full of detail and varied. I expected two lines answers and yet you exceed my expectations! But seriously, well done to all. There were some fantastic submissions and the fact you all took it in such a serious light is testament to the sort of talent emerging from Ziost.
Ah but the winners, who are they?
In first place was Acolyte Thran Occasus, there was no doubt his entries soul purpose was to butter me up, but his gift embodies what it is to be a Sith. Power and strength over our enemies. A beautiful Obsidian Statue, his entry was packed full of detail and meaning. When the archives are up I will see if we can't get in there along with all the other submissions.
Second place goes to Priest Azyrith Esca Teiko, a witty and humorous gift. My love of fine wines is perhaps greater than my other talents. So who could refuse a planet that offers any beverage in the galaxy and its people worshiping me as god? Or should that God(o)?
If I could reward all those that entered I would but I would like to add a special mention to Virulence who gave me three young female Jedi to play with. Alas my wife to be was not bowled over by that gesture (can't for the life of me think why) and you were so close! If only you'd left me the Ewok! Also Braecen 'unofficially' submitted an entry, which was incredible. A worthy gift in the form of a Dagger, through which the force can be channelled through, fantastic!
Finding the words - NEW COMPETITION!
Because of the Independence Games I will only be using nice and quick competitions, once they are over I may up the challenge a little. This event is simple, from a word I shall give you, you must try and find as many words as you can from it. The words are:
Sith Lord Palpatine
So for example I can find the word 'Tin' in there. Find as many as you can, with bonus points for any Star Wars related names, characters or worlds. This event starts Monday and finishes on the Friday, as per usual I shall judge the entries on Saturday and announce the winners in my Sunday report. The one with the most words wins!

Different Orders
Just to clarify something concerning our different orders. Sith, Obelisk and the Krath. Traditionally Sith have been associated with flying, Obelisk with ground combat and Krath with the written and fictional work. Let me just point out that this is no longer the case! Indeed a Krath can be the best pilot, Obelisk the best poet or writer and Sith a ground based tank! It's purely for role-play purposes that you choose an order. Ultimately it is up to you how you want your character to be and is NOT restricted by your choice in order.

Funny thing happened the other day
Actually it didn't start out funny but it sure has hell ended that way. We had just returned from delivering a customers car, by we I mean the company secretary and me. The car we were returning in was known to me as the TANK or to the rest of you a BMW Estate. Whilst cruising quite leisurely along the road we heard a rather odd sounding pop sound followed by a gravely sound. At this point the BMW decided it was going to steer in the opposite way we wanted to go.
For a brief moment we knew terror, and were forced off the road. Think of a roller coaster without the rails and you get the idea. Initially I couldn't understand why the car had gone AWOL on me until we inspected one of the rear tyres. Flat as a proverbial pancake!
Now the first thing I ought to make clear, despite being in the motor trade I know almost nothing at all about cars! Oh sure I know where the front and back of the car is but aside from that I know nothing. So imagine if you will the secretary, and me arms folded with blank expressions. We had never changed a tyre in our lives. Naturally she wanted to protect both her dignity and long nails so the task was left to me alone. The first challenge was removing the bit of plastic protecting the bolts. This you would think an easy task? If only. If refused to move, so we started to use anything to hand to prize it off. First a key, no luck. Then a thick metal key ring, it actually broke! In the end we found an iron bar, which did the trick!
Next task to remove the bolts! This was the part where we realised we needed to jack the car up! Now, I'd seen these things on TV. You slide them under the car put your foot on some lever and keep tapping it till it was high enough to change the wheel. You can imagine my surprise when something more resembling a bicycle pump was stowed in the boot (trunk). Confusion only deepened when trying to figure out when the little crank was for. Though a comical combination of luck, head scratching and consulting a paper-thin manual, which frankly should have been burnt, did we figure it out.
So, we have the car jacked up, cover removed and series of bolts to remove. Using some bolt removing, metal thingy-me-jig (oh yes, that's the technical name) I than began the removal of the bolts. This part should have been plain sailing, I mean you turn the metal bar and remove the bolt. Easy, right? Well no, it wasn't. I am not what you would call strong BUT I am strong enough. After turning a frightening shade of purple trying to remove the damn thing did I realise this was not going to work. I managed to do it by physically standing on the bar, putting my entire body weight into untightening the bolts. It proved a success.
And yes, I know they are called wheel nuts and not 'bolt' but as I said, NOT mechanically minded! I have a plea to the car manufacturers of the world! Please fit a button that does all the hard work for you!
Final note
Well, that's it for this week. It's been trying week to say the least and now if you'll excuse me I have an obsidian statue to admire and A LOT of wine to get through, despite Esca's attempts to steal the best vintage bottles, shame on you!
Keep up the good work and lets see what my next report reveals.
Your Servant,
Godo Nurok
