Greetings Exar Kun,
We now move into Autumn, the time of oranges and reds, falling leaves and the stirring of a chill breeze! Unless of course you live in some far flung exotic local, in which case I hate you! Actually I have not enjoyed the hot and humid weather that the UK seems to have 'enjoyed'. This poor computer of mine has suffered terribly with CPU core tempratures that make me shiver.
So what little scraps of information, news and other asorted information do we have in this report? Well aside from my usual dull personal commentry we have old friends returning, a special serialisation of an excellent story written by our very own Gaidal Dupar. Each week, or report I shall release a chapter for you to read. I have been lucky to read the whole story and it is a 'cracker', well worth reading. Also we have the grand 'Obelisk Rites of Supremacy', a large Brotherhood wide event. Warhunter sent an excellent email outlining what's involved and how to get stuck in. I shall be adding Warhunters words for you to all look at.
Also if none of you were aware, the Proconsul, Esca has returned from his travels.
Before I repeat what Warhunter has already said let me make one thing VERY clear. You can not, I repeat can not transfer to another Clan during the Obelisk RoS. Two of you tried, please no one else bother. It has already been said on the Dark Brotherhood web site and now I am repeating it. You can NOT transfer out! Once it has been all finished, you may do so.
Dark Greetings Plagueis,
Its been sometime since I've addressed this clan as a whole, and while I'm proud again to do so ;) I can assure you i'll keep it to a minimum for the reasons of my current position.
As the title informs you, I have decided to send a bit of information to you all about the current Brotherhood-wide competition, the Obelisk Rites of Supremacy. To begin with I will be detailing the event, and answering some FAQs ive been receiving. For those interested in the major message of the title, scroll down till you see the bolded text. Ive included some non-gamer information below for you.
**
<span style="FONT-STYLE: italic">What is the Obelisk Rite of Supremacy?</span>**
This event is a DB-wide competition, hosted by the Obelisk High Commander. In past times when the Brotherhood was Order-specific, the ORoS was held as a competition between Obelisk Houses to determine which was the strongest and most loyal to the Obelisk Order, which afterwards would award the victor as the 'First House of the Obelisk' (much like the Great Jedi War awards the victor the title of 'First Clan of the Brotherhood'). The event ran for an average time of a month and followed a storyline built by the OHC. Present Day, the event is still hosted by the OHC and Obelisk order but because of the Multi-Order Nature of the Brotherhood, it is not limited to Obelisk members anymore. All orders may participate in the selected events, which are not longer limited to just the JK series.
<span style="FONT-STYLE: italic">I am Krath/Sith, can I participate?</span>
Yes. As stated above, all orders are allowed to participate. If you have either: JA, JO, JK, BF, Allegiance, can write, or battle in the ACC then "you are golden" (means your good to go ;) ) As well, XvT and XWA might be making an appearance in the event in the future.
<span class="style25" style="FONT-STYLE: italic"> NOTE:</span> At this moment you can not battle in the ACC yet for the competition. Once the clans start fighting each other in the storyline then the ACC will be opened. As for writing, a new event has opened up in the ORoS and details are included at the bottom of this email in <span style="FONT-WEIGHT: bold">bold</span>
<SPAN
style="FONT-STYLE: italic">What are the rewards for this event?
Because this is a DB-wide event Novae and CFs are being offered. If after each round you come in the top 3 for one of the games being used you can earn yourself a Nova. CFs follow the same rules as MP Nights and ICTE days. In addition, because this is the Obelisk Rite of Supremacy the clan will be earning some "Obelisk-related" prizes depending on our placement. (i haven't heard what is up for grabs but im assuming artifacts/ground vehicles/ect.)
<span class="style25" style="FONT-STYLE: italic">SPECIAL NOTE:</span> The new ECF is being offered on special days. Beat a guardsman and earn this rare medal. Watch the news page to know when the reward is available.
<SPAN
style="FONT-STYLE: italic">Why should I participate?
Three Reasons: 1) To earn yourself some nice shiny medals. 2) To earn merit towards your next promotion and 3) To show your loyalty to the clan, and prove to the Brotherhood that our IG'05 win was not based on luck.
**
<span style="FONT-STYLE: italic">Im going off to school/I'm really busy with work, is it alright to skip the competition?</span>**<span style="FONT-STYLE: italic">
</span>Real Life sucks, we all know it and no one holds it against you. However, because of the seriousness of this event I ask every member to participate at least a couple times during the event. I would suggest to try for at least 3-5 games a week if you are really busy (cuz honestly a game is only 5-10 mins at most) and make sure your superior knows of your current state.
**
<span style="FONT-STYLE: italic">I can't find an opponent, what do I do?</span>**<span style="FONT-STYLE: italic">
</span>Don't give up! Make sure you are in #gmrg at all times and try to promote yourself, as well jump onto the servers and see if theres anyone there that is free for a match. If all else fails, talk to me. I know i can't compete against you but I be more than happy to find you an opponent. Just remember that it takes time, as well if you complain or are rude in anyway it could hurt the number of ppl who would want to free up time for you. As well, remember that if someone says they are busy, ask for the reason but don't bug them about it. if they are busy, then they are usually busy.
<span style="FONT-STYLE: italic">I don't have any of the games, I don't write, and i don't like the ACC. What can I do?
</span>Well honestly, that doesn't give you much choice in the DB. However, there are always other things you can do. Talk to me about it, fore I always have things people can do and I take pride and making sure they are rewarded for their efforts, even if it means making an ass of myself to the summit to get it ;)
<span style="FONT-WEIGHT: bold">For those that don't have the games for the ORoS</span>
A new event has opened for the competition. Take a look at Korras' post:
<SPAN
style="FONT-WEIGHT: bold; FONT-STYLE: italic">"The first of the special events. This runs two weeks, and will be added to the total of one of the updates. Participation also scores points, so if you can't game for whatever reason, nothing will stop you from scoring points now.<BR

Done! Yes if you haven't replied and your reading this you are now out of luck. I have passed on a list of those people who failed to respond to my call. I tried it in my Reports, Mailing lists and even a personal email from yours truely. If you find yourself being removed from the Dark Brotherhood and shunted into rogue now you know why. However even then it's still not too late, you can request to be transferred back into the DB.
Again my personal thanks to all those that took the time to repond to my AWOL check. I hope I don't have to do another for a very long time.

<span class="style6">Return of the Dark Jedi!</span>
One of the best pieces of news I have recieved in recent months is the return of Dark Jedi Knight Sunflash al'Tor. Those that do not know him, please take the time to do so. Before CEK and CEK were merged to form Clan Plagueis he was instrumental in the day to day running of House Ziost, part of Clan Exar Kun. It's good to have him back! Welcome aboard.
This is, I admit a little unusual but each week I will be publishing a chapter from Gaidal Dupars highly acclaimed story 'Heros & Charlatans'. You will find it an interesting read, with numerous twists and turns. I would like to thank Gaidal for allowing me to publish this story and I hope you all enjoy the read.
_ Chapter 1 Confronted by the past _
<span class="style4">Slowly Gaidal opened his eyes and looked around the room. He could not help it that he felt disturbed and even a bit agitated. The young Guardian was occupied with several important tasks and was preparing himself for a couple of trials in order to earn a promotion. His career was no longer in a loop; instead it became dreadful, slow and not quite interesting any more. He was at a dead end. </span>
With all the current things and developments on his mind it was hard to concentrate. Not only were his trials an important issue, also his assignment as unofficial head-archeologist on Korriban and his application to become a flight member of the new battle team were draining energy from him.
The young Kyandrian warrior growled and got on his feet. He decided in a split-second that he would leave his mediation sessions for a while. While cursing out loud Gaidal dimmed the candles in the room and activated the lights. He looked around and saw his quarters were a mess. Papers, reports and maps were scattered throughout the room and piles of books were on his desk like small towers. How one man could work this way, he asked himself.
Slowly he walked to the mirror on his closet door. Gaidal saw a battered face with three large scars and a beard of a few weeks. The eyes were cold and blurry, while his mouth was dry. How long had he been here? He looked through the chrome Venetian blinds for a brief moment and realized that Byfrost was still covered in snow, while severe storms were tormenting its surface.
Suddenly Gaidal heard a beeping noise coming from his desk. He turned around and watched at the load of datapads. He walked to it and looked at them one after another, but the signal came from elsewhere.
He looked at the last datapad and saw details of Revans past. They were not exactly facts, because none actually knew what happened to Revan during his childhood.
The young Sith assumed that Revan systematically erased all data concerning his youth. Besides those facts there were only rumors about him.
Some said that Revan sold his parents to slave traders on the age of somewhere between 12 and 18 years old. Another rumor was that he originally came from Tantooine, just like Anakin Skywalker. Was it coincidence or all too obvious? Gaidal should give more attention to these so-called rumors once he was finished with his other tasks. He thought of his parents for a moment and imagined himself selling them to the first Hutt he would encounter. It made him grin, because he was still upset and hurt that his parents were afraid of him as Force user years ago and gave him away to the Jedi Order on Dantooine.
The beeping sound continued to affect Gaidals mood and so the young man looked to the screen of his computer. He had an incoming transmission from a secured channel. Gaidal realized that he had to be very tired to forget that the signal would come from his computer instead of his datapads. He pushed the button to open a communication channel and immediately saw the proud face of Jaymz. The man looked irritated and it was almost like flames were coming from his eyes.
<span class="style4">What do you want Jaymz? Im very busy lately, so dont disturb for anything useless! Gaidal mumbled uninterested. </span>
<span class="style4">I believe Ive a challenge for you. A brave challenge Jaymz said. </span>
<span class="style4">Stop talking in riddles, Im not in that mood right now. Do you want to challenge me for anything? A game of Pazaak? the Guardian replied.</span>
<span class="style4">A duel, Gaidal, an interesting duel, The other Sith declared. </span>
<span class="style4">So you would like to go to the ACC on Antei. Well, Ive to disappoint you, my dearest Jaymz, Im still to occupied with my current tasks. Just give me another two make it four, four weeks and then youll have your match! </span>
<span class="style4">I dont think Im getting your full attention, Dupar. In the end there will be a price, a very _special _price! </span>
The fact Jaymz used the last name of Gaidal, made him feel worried_. What was the brave Protector up to this time?_ He had a true talent for finding problems and difficulties. And he had an advantage on background information here. There was something he knew that Gaidal did not know. Jaymz wanted to make sure that the Guardian knew of this advantage. Strange and puzzling, he thought while he held his right forefinger on his lips. He would play this game for a while.
<span class="style4">Okay, my dearest, youve my full attention now. So please explain what youre babbling about Gaidal said without hesitation. </span>
<span class="style4">Well, I think our conflicts and rivalries should end as soon as possible. We keep fighting over women and we both know we cant help it. There isnt enough room for the both of us. Were like fire and ice and in the end none will coexist. That leads to a hopeless situation and I would like to break through our impasse and give one of us the opportunity to coexist Jaymz started his monologue, but I know you almost always follow the rules and principles you receive from your Master. Under those circumstances you would never fight me on neutral ground without any safeguards of the ACC. Despite our short encounter on Mustafar, youre bound by the rules. So I made it a bit more interesting by coming up with a price. If you win, youll have Langis </span>
Gaidal started laughing out loud and explained: Ive no desire to fight you over Langis. If, and I say if, she would love me, than shell come to me rather than Ill have to fight you earn her favor. Dont you think she would hate the idea of two men fighting for her, like what happened back then on Mustafar. Besides, I fought for her once and she ended up with the other party. No, Langis will not be at stake here and you no longer have my attention.
<span class="style4">Did I say have, I meant that youll be able to _save _her Jaymz sneered with arrogance, Im holding her captive and drugged. I knew I would only have your attention when I would have a leading card even Gaidal Dupar wouldnt resist or compete against. Of course you would like to see some proof that Ive her, right? Well, I happen to know what she did to the first black rose you gave her. She kept it with her ever since, which was a thorn in my eye back then. At first she wore it in her hair, but after several complaints from my address and the fact that the rose was withering, she crumbled it and filled a little bag with the powder. Yes, she made herself a talisman. And look at what I happen to have under me right now? </span>
Jaymz showed the little talisman and Gaidal was shocked_. What was this man thinking and doing? Was he truly as mad as Gaidal always believed he was? If his superiors and master would know about this, it would probably mean the end of his career! _
<span class="style4">Will you come, Gaidal? To fight me until one of us is no more? Jaymz whispered from the other side of the screen. </span>
<span class="style4">Yes, Jaymz, twice. Ill come and end this. You literally overplayed your hand this time and dont lose another. You already lost one! Where do I go? the Guardian said. </span>
<span class="style4">Well, still trying to manipulate me in order to lose my temper. Youre a real challenge and remember, I only do this for the honor of the fight. And dont go too fast, my friend, just go into orbit and wait there. Ill give you the exact coordinates and details when youre in orbit. See you soon and please hurry. Over and out Jaymz ended the conversation, leaving a troubled opponent behind. </span>
The screen became dark again and Gaidal kept thinking of a proper strategy. What exactly was Jaymz doing? Such uncoordinated and unmonitored duels were not entirely forbidden. Although you could interpret that as a way of the Sith, most superiors still tried to keep as many students alive as possible. They always gave you the feeling of being expendable and inferior and some students were sacrificed for the greater good or bad. In the end students were also precious. Some were very talented and students in general were quite scarce. Gaidal decided that he had to go wherever Jaymz would be sending him, but not before he would consult his Master Godo Nurok. The Kyandrian gathered his equipment and put it all in his bag pack. He held his Sith Assassination Gun with him, while his Chatka and Shinamoor staff ended up in the dark leather bag pack. Gaidal looked around his room once more and made a promise to himself. If he would return from the battle he would immediately clean up his room. It would probably be worth it then.
++ Look out for Chapter 2 -
Reviving old friendships in my next report ++
The best way to attain promotions, to get a more personal service by assisting our members is by getting yourself a master. I have three myself, all of which are doing exceedingly well, two being so close to getting a lightsaber they can taste it! There are masters out there who are prepared to take you on. Generally we recommend you have attained the rank of Protector, which is easily achieved through the Shadow Academy but there can be exceptions made.
Dark Jedi Knight Sunflash is keen to take on a Student as are one or two others. If you want a more personal contact with the Dark Brotherhood, if you need advice and guidance or even answer to your questions then I recommend contacting your Envoy Rydack, or even Schisca or myself. You can reach Rydack at the following email address:[Log in to view e-mail addresses]

[FROM LAST WEEKS REPORT - CARRIED OVER]
One of the great things about the Dark Brotherhood are the opportunities presented to us, oppertunities to earn rewards which in truth mean almost nothing in RL (Real Life) but does mean a lot to those in this organisation. In the up and coming Project Rebirth these rewards will take on a whole new meaning, with additional incentives. Those not in the know I suggestion you follow this link for a preview for the some of the things you could get yourself: http://gm.darkjedibrotherhood.com/awakening.html
Some of you may be feeling a little confused and lost, not only about what to do but also how to earn yourself a bag load of goodies. Of course a couple of methods may involve killing off your opponents or even bribery. But there are much easier ways to earn yourself some medals or as we call them 'shinys'.
Shadow Academy Courses are an excellent starting point, always teaching you new things. Pass enough of them and you could find yourself being promoted automatically. To try your hand at some courses follow this link: http://www.darkjedibrotherhood.com/dbjedi/shadowacademy/sa/index.html
This if fine to a point of course, promotion up to Protector is quite common place, and you do get course completions proudly displayed on your Dossier on the Dark Brotherhood web site. But if you want some medals and real promotions you need to dig deeper. For example if you want to earn yourself some Medals then competitions are the way forward. Towards the end of this report are a current list of competitions you can take part in, or for a full list of whats going on follow this link: http://www.darkjedibrotherhood.com/dbjedi/competitions.asp
There is also a weekly gaming night, or I should say nights. Tuesdays, Thurdays and if your lucky Saturdays. This is a chance to rack up your Cluster of Fires. http://icte.starwarsalliance.com/
Always keep an eagle eye out for any specials events or competitions. A good place to look is the Dark Brotherhood web site. Check at least once a week to make sure you dont miss out on anything special. You could for instance get the chance to win your own personal Fighter or Vehicle or even a specialist piece of equipment! Skies the limit!
As a general bit of advice look out for a Master to help train you. If you don't have one talk to your Envoy or failing that your Aedile or even Quaestor. Masters are an excellent source of advice, help and trials to ensure your continued success to Knighthood! Finally I would strongly recommend you become familiar with something called the Compendium. It's an excellent source of information. You can learn about the many rewards on offer, ranks, history, anything. Here's the link: http://www.darkjedibrotherhood.com/dbjedi/dsc/index.html
