Quaestor Report
Greetings Exar Kun,
Another week passes us by and A LOT has happened in Clan Plagueis, mercifully our House remains pretty much unscathed by all these changes and I hope that remains the case. As many of you no doubt have seen from the Deputy Grand Masters email, he will be taking a more active role in the running of the Clan, but rather than try and explain Kirs role I shall let him use his own words:
_Hey Everyone, As you may know, I am Deputy Grand Master Kir Taldrya Katarn. I'm emailing you all today because of a series of unfortunate events in Clan Plagueis. As you have all undoubtedly noticed, CP was sunken from the heights where it once sat. This is not due to failure of any single member, leader, or institution, but is a result of a series of resignations, transfers, departures, and other events. Together they have brought Plagueis to a place where I know most of you don't want the Clan to be. _
_Seeing this, the Grand Master and myself have decided that I will be stepping in and working aggressively hand-in-hand with your leaders to get this Clan back on its feet. Some of you may have already been contacted by me in the last week, others have not. I have spent this first week gathering all the information I can about the Clan, how it has been lead, what issues and problems have arisen, and trying to learn about all of you. I am proud to say I have gotten a great response from all of you, and Quaestor Godo and Proconsul Virulence have been especially helpful. _
_Now before I go any further let me just assure you that the DGM is not here to take over your Clan. I was a Consul once and I am a huge advocate of Clan sovereignty. But as DGM it is my responsibility to ensure the smooth functioning of the Clans - therefore I have decided to step in and help out. I am not your new Consul, Lucien is still in his position. For now, think of me as a consultant here to get things up and running once again. _
_So, from reading all your emails and going over all the information, I have found several key areas that we all need to work on. The first is Communication. Starting with the Clan website and down to leader reports and House emails we need to increase the overall communication in the Clan. I will be working with Lucien to find someone to help us with an overhaul of the Clan website, after which it will be fully functional and contain all the important information Clan members need. In several of your emails the topic of IRC came up. IRC is a very important component of the DB, and it allows us to communicate most effectively. However, many people can't run IRC due to different problems, so it isn't an option available to everyone. This is why the DB has other options, there are the Message Boards, AOL Instant Mess anger, the Clan/House Mailing lists, etc. So if you can't use IRC, take advantage of these other methods! (A quick note for leaders: Clan and House leaders are expected to use IRC when they can. There is no set requirement, but leaders should be able to access IRC at least occasionally. If there are any issues with this contact me and we can work something out) _
_The second key area is Clan Identity. When Clan Exar Kun and Clan Satal Keto were merged into Clan Plagueis there was no clean transition. What we have today is a Clan trying to live the history of two older Clans, instead of creating its own. Now don't get me wrong, the contributions made by CEK and CSK to the Brotherhood were substantial, and we shouldn't forget them, but Plagueis needs to move beyond its parent Clans and create a true identity of its own. This includes a Clan History, an official Clan name, new Clan powers, a good description of the system and HQ Clan Plagueis calls home, etc. All of these create a solid foundation for you, the members of Clan Plagueis, to build your identity upon. _
_So these are the two major areas I will be working with all of you to improve upon. Now there are a few other things I want to mention (some of which you're probably waiting for): _
_1) Promotions/Medals
I have received quite a long list of medals and promotions that need to be looked over, recommended, and hopefully approved by the MAA for Clan members. Some of these go back quite awhile. One of the first things I intend to do is finish up writing all the recommendations with your leaders and then personally approve the deserving promos/medals so we can get them out ASAP. One thing you'll learn about my style of leadership - I love awarding members for their work. _
_2) Competitions
I know Godo is currently running one, but in the near future I plan on working with Lucien to start up a few "Quick & Easy" competitions, as I call them. Stuff like caption comps, one-word run ons, and things of that nature. They will be stuff that everyone can compete in, and probably finish within 5 minutes. We'll probably run at least one per week to give everyone lots of opportunities for medals. Also if you guys want a short story competition, a quick gaming ladder, run on, or anything like that just email me and I can set it up ASAP. _
_3) Website
I have to talk to Lucien/Virulence about the current website. We'll either be updating it or making an entirely new one. What I need is any of you who are fluent in HTML (unfortunately my skills in that area are pretty weak) who can help us get the Clan site up an running. So if you can help us out there, email me ASAP. _
_4) Clan Logo
Plagueis needs a Clan logo (as far as I know, I haven't seen one yet) and banner for its website - and for people to use in MB signatures, avatars, email signatures (whatever you want!). So we'll be starting a logo/banner competition very soon, so be on the lookout for that! _

Applications are being re-submitted for the position of Proconsul and Quaestor, Aedile of House Satal Keto. The details have already been submitted to the web Dark Brotherhood web site but for those of you who missed it, here they are again:
Below are the recommendations to apply (anyone may apply, regardless of rank, position, or experience):
*Proconsul: *
-At least 6 months in the Brotherhood
-Good general knowledge of the Brotherhood
-Ability and time to use IRC, message boards
-Must have an email turnaround time of no more than 48 hours
-Must have held at least 1 prior DB leadership position
-Must have shown consistently good levels of activity in past

-At least 3 months in Brotherhood
-Good general knowledge of DB
-Ability and time to use IRC, message boards (can have exceptions for IRC)
-Email turnaround time of no more than 48 hours

-Ability to use or learn IRC, use message boards
-Email turnaround time of no more than 48 hours
What to include in your applications:
-Full IDline and dossier number
-Brief History of time in DB
-Former leadership positions held, with descriptions of accomplishments (if any held)
-Ideas for the position you are applying to
-Why you want this position
-What you think a DB leader should do
-At least 2 DB references (can be anyone)
-Anything else you would like
Now if you are reading the stuff above and thinking, I dont really fit those criteria, but I have some ideas and think I could help out apply! The lists above are guidelines, but there are always those diamonds in the rough who become great leaders. So if you want to give it a shot, send in an application.
Also, I know there was already a news post about this, and some of you sent in applications. I apologize for the inconvenience, but you should resubmit a new application including all the required parts.

Submissions for Issue 2 of the Plagueis Chronicle are now FINISHED. I would like to thank all of you for your contributions. We had even more contributions for this issue than our previous one. I aim to have Issue 2 released on November 30th
Now then, Issue 3 will be our special Christmas edition, which means I will be endeavouring to make this issue extra special. I am now accepting submissions for our Christmas edition!

I didn't think we could top last weeks success and then you all go off and prove me wrong. Well done to you all, amazing work. A quick glance at the successes this week and I see I am letting the side down :( Must try harder! Special pats on the back go to Lorien for a well deserved promotion also it's worth mention Starrett for earning his Steel Cross, his accomplishments for this House are wide and many. Well deserved. Last but not least we have Aabsdu, an amazing member who earnt two Elite Cluster of Fires.

Just remember the whole point of this is to have fun, so have a good weekend and look out for the results due out tomorrow. Finally let me welcome all our new recruits, you are lucky in that you are joining a very active House full of very motivated and talented staff, I hope you enjoy being a Kunian as much as I do.
