Well, it takes a big man to live up to mistakes, and I'm a big man. In trying to get through some changes to the DB I failed to think through truly what the process should be for a synthetic change like the ranks structure. The decision was pushed through too quickly and now some people are unhappy. So I will remedy that.
For the next two days (until 7/17 at midnight) I will be taking suggestions on the Obelisk ranks by [Log in to view e-mail addresses]. After that period I will post a poll here in that you can vote for your favorite set in. We will then have a poll for the top four choices, and then the top two. The most popular will become the new Obelisk ranks. Each level of the bracket will last two days.

I don't think it is necessary to do this for the Sith as most people have liked those. If a bunch of people want to we will though.

Hey Jac...I want to say thank you for doing this man. You have really changed my opinion on you and the rest of the Dark Council the past few weeks. It takes balls to do this sort of deal, and I for one am glad to have you as DGM. May not mean much, but you most definitely have my respect now. Thanks again.
I believe that the Sith should also have a chance at making up their rank names. While I myself don't mind the current ones, there are probably members in the Sith Order who have their own ideas, which should be given consideration.

The problem with then doing it for the Sith, is then the Krath will want their say, and the majority of members have voiced favour in the new Sith ranks and the existing Krath ranks.
The real fact of the matter is, initially only the Obelisk ranks were going to be changed, the Sith were going to stay as they were, and, for all intensive purposes, we've tried to keep them as they are, only with a few subtle alterations, and freeing up Battlemaster/lord in case the Obelisk decide to build a system around them...
I don't really see the need in the end, myself.
