Some Real Life Notes

Just to give everyone a head’s up, I’m moving back to school tomorrow (Tuesday). Starting on Wednesday, I have RA training (well, retraining for me) through the next Wednesday, then the other students start moving in. I should be able to check my e-mail, but the school’s network, or at least the branch in the dorms, is never very reliable at the beginning of the year. This just means going to the library and connecting to the wireless network. So, if you see delays in trying to get a response from me, that’s why.

Now, on to the rest of the stuff.

New SA site…coming

Pyralis is working on tying the whole site together. There is no definite date, however, simply because things never go quite as planned. Tentative time frame would be late August or early September.

As you’ve heard or seen by now, the current SA site has been reorganized a bit. Courses are now organized by their campus, with each campus representing a certain area of study (in the same way that real colleges operate). The new site will follow this same break down, with an easier menu and an easier layout (that is, no little box in the middle).

SA Layout and Lyspair

I’ve gotten some questions concerning the layout of the Shadow Academy and the terrain of Lyspair (the moon that the SA is on). Unfortunately, nothing official has ever been laid out. A basic floor plan has been established though, and it is based off of the design Spears’ made. Consuls have been provided with the plan for anyone who is working on a battle plan.

As for Lyspair’s terrain, I have nothing on that, other than to say that it is “habitable.” That doesn’t help at all, though, and I realize that. This is something that will be worked on, though.

New Courses

We’ve added some more courses recently, and more are on their way. Kromtal and others are working on the Sith History courses, and I’m working on a new course myself (it’s a secret). These courses are being done because the DB membership said in the poll I did that they wanted more Star Wars/DB fiction related courses. Speaking of polls, there is a new poll up for you to participate in: do you like graphics in the course notes or not?

One thing I want to address about proposing new exams is that courses need to be somewhat broad in the area they are covering. I don’t want 100 courses that are very narrow in their scope. Also, before you go out and write the whole course, please send a proposal to me first! Tell me what the course is, what it would cover, why it should be a course, etc. If I get a “I want to write a course about Ewoks,” (hypothetically of course), I’m going to write back and ask for more details.

Writer’s Corner

The Writer’s Corner is back open for full business. We’re getting to things as fast as we can. Please be patient. But, if someone posts on the Writer’s Corner, anyone is free to offer constructive criticism. You don’t have to be a private reviewer to do it.

And, other than that, there’s not much else to say right now.
