</td> </tr> <tr> <td> This Week: One by One</td> </tr> <tr> <td> The Championship Ladders are well under way - with the expected time outs that are advancing the rounds. I got a question this week about them, which I figured was necessary enough to address, considering who had asked it: Q:

"Given that I had an extension request in the queue that

hadn't replied to before you closed the battle, is there any chance of reopening it if he had said yes?" A: Not really... *Q: *"...so, I'm taking a loss and he's moving on because he didn't reply? " **A: **Yup.

Here's a snippet from the ACC Rules concerning Time Outs: "If a combatant needs to request an Extension, to avoid timing out, they must mail their opponent, the CM and the DCM before the battle times out; Their opponent must reply to accept the extension before the battle times out; Failure of the opponent to reply before the battle times out is considered a denial of the request."

The issue of 'time' in the ACC creates a couple different 'factions' of fighters; one's who don't really care and just want to finish a battle and those who 'hope' for a time-out to gain a quick victory (especially in a CHL). Neither of these views are wrong, one is not less than the other; time is part of the game and it just means more to some than to others. However, the ones who just want to see a completed battle have always belittled, rebuked and scorned those who like to play with the time aspects and hope for a quick win. Because of that malice, those who like 'time' don't have to reply to requests - their omission considered a denial without actually saying it. That way, they can play it off later as "schucks...I didn't get that mail in time..." while happy with the quick win; all to keep them from being fodder for the self-righteous. On the same note; those who prefer to finish battles will often reply instantly (or asap), even if they miss the time-window; acknowledging the request to the affirmative. Often, concessions are made for that.

One thing that everyone seems to forget, as far as extensions are concerned; While the battle still has time left (that is, before it has timed out), the DCM and I have no input on extensions - the acceptances, denials, requests and responses are all up to you. You needn't "ask" us - it is between you and your opponent. We are included in your mails (mandatory) so we know to look for the response and we are made aware that an extension is being sought - but, while time exists in the battle, we will not disallow an extension. Once the time passes, however, it is no longer your concern - it becomes ours. </td> </tr> <tr> <td> </td> </tr> <tr> <td> Bar Room Brawl Thingy</td> </tr> <tr> <td> Round 2 is finished and I am reading through it now - well, not "right now"; clearly cause I'm typing this :P This thing started back in February - oh boy, it's been a long haul - thanks to those who've stayed in it. This was a 'test' for those of you who don't remember, a trial of a 'mass-battle' that started off with 32 fighters. Because of that fact, there are going to be awards for those who make it through - believe it or not, you did "help" us figure stuff out about the DeathMatch process. However, I don't know if anyone can stomach another round - it's been almost a year long battle that was very tough to monitor. I'll mail the fighters and we'll have a chat, but know this; if we do 'shut it down' early, that won't negate your efforts and awards will still be processed.</td> </tr> <tr> <td> </td> </tr> <tr> <td> Staff WoopeeDoo!</td> </tr> <tr> <td> SW Shikyo was awarded a Sapphire Blade this week for his efforts in the Centre - over 10 months of active service! Thanks Shik!!</td> </tr> <tr> <td> </td> </tr> <tr> <td> Level 1 Competitions Form</td> </tr> <tr> <td> Yay! The form is done - my first 'from-scratch', solo coding accomplishment (poop on you, let me have my second of achievement :P); but what's more exciting is: it works :) Anyway, you can find it in the Competition Guidance chapter of the ACC Compendium, or here: http://www.darkjedibrotherhood.com/dbjedi/acc/acc_comp_form.asp. All Level 1 competitions are required to use this form. You may contact us with questions, setup ideas and that kinda thing - but when all your ducks are in a row (quack!), the official request needs to be sent via the form.</td> </tr> <tr> <td> </td> </tr> <tr> </tr></table>

<tr> <td> On Deck...</td> </tr> <tr> <td> I ran a quick idea by the staff yesterday (yes, I actually do that :P) that I thought would be laughed out of the group's list - but it actually got support. So, I'll let you know it's in the works. It will be the ACC's Christmas gift to you, an "Erase a Loss" competition. The premise is that there are no awards, no wins or losses (among some other specs) and no titles of any kind. If you win a battle, you get to remove a loss from your record; if you lose a battle = nothing happens (well, maybe a little harmless flogging :P). There will be signups along with the in depth 'rules', so look for the announcement on those. <p>The Cooperative event is coming - AFTER both CHL's are done and we have a little breather. So please, don't send me your teams now - I'll just forget or delete them and then you'll have to do it all over again anyway :)</p> <p> </p></td> </tr> <tr> <td> <p>DA Dalthid; Combat Bastard</p></td> </tr> <tr> <td> The Dragon of Filth and Damnation</td> </tr> <tr> <td> </td> </tr> <tr> <td> The ACC Staff</td> </tr> <tr> <td>DA Dalthid [CM]; 3/2003</td> </tr> <tr> <td>DJM Halcyon Rokir Arconae [DCM]; 9/2004</td> </tr> <tr> <td>DA Telona Murrage [M:CM]; 2/2005</td> </tr> <tr> <td>KE Nekura Manji Keibatsu [TRN]; 2/2005</td> </tr> <tr> <td>KAP al`Lan Mandragoran [TRN]; 4/2006</td> </tr> <tr> <td>KPN Seraine "Erinyes" Ténama [TRN]; 9/2006</td> </tr> <tr> <td>KAP Kat Pridemore [JUD]; 4/2005</td> </tr> <tr> <td>DJK Baron Zarco [JUD]; 4/2006</td> </tr> <tr> <td>DJK Rasilvenaira StormRaven [JUD]; 7/2006</td> </tr> <tr> <td>SW Shikyo "Rurouni" Keibatsu [LJA]; _ 1/2006_</td> </tr> <tr> <td>DJK Menace [LJUD]; 3/2006</td> </tr> <tr> <td>SW Brujah Tamalar [JUD]; 8/2005 *extended LoA; est. return 12/2006</td> </tr> <tr> <td> </td> </tr> <tr> <td>In Training*</td> </tr> <tr> <td>N/A</td> </tr>

I'm not sure if you all have worked this out or not, but for the "Erase a Loss" competition, if you win a battle, would it be marked as a win on your character sheet, or do you just "erase a loss?"

good question - but I'm gonna pass on answering it right now. I am still drawing up the specifics.
