State of the Clan Address

Mr. ProConsul, Quaestors, members of the extended Summit, distinguished elders and fellow citizens:

Each year, by custom, our Clan Consul convenes to deliver a message to consider the state of the Clan. This year, we gather deeply aware of the decisive days that lie ahead.

The next year offers us 365 decidedly precious opportunities to improve as individuals, families and as a united Clan. It will be through sheer will and determination that we succeed where we have come up short in the past: to be the best Clan in the entire Brotherhood. Assuredly, we are the most tight-knit group, those devoted to family and friendship above all... however, it has not been enough to bring a reign of stability nor a championship banner under the Clan's name.

This year, if we set aside personal aspirations and focus on the unification of the Clan through small and large projects alike, by deferring our own arrogance and ego, and challenging ourselves to heed the word of each valued, trusted member... we will find ourselves atop the throne of all Clans - the ultimate goal - and set ourselves as a pillar unto the Brotherhood. One in which the Grand Master and Deputy Grand Master can assuredly ask for assistance, opinions and guidance in the future direction of the entire Brotherhood.

However... before we can attain such lofty goals, we must find strength within to rebuke our nay-saying criticizers and complete our tasks at hand: Clan Reformation.

What is Clan reformation? It is, simply, the betterment of the Clan through the combined vision of the Consul, Proconsul and Quaestors. It is not my wish to shock and dismay a great many of you upon this day of exuberance and great news; alas, I must share with you the future of the Clan... no matter how disturbing some may find my news. For it is everyone's right to know what we have envisioned in the upcoming months - what changes are on the horizon for the Royal Clan of Scholae Palatinae.

The first of my news involves the position of Assistant Envoy. At one point used to groom future, capable leaders to the position of Companion Class Envoy (House Envoy) it will be dissolved to attain the overall glory we seek as a Clan. In the event of an emergency the Knight Class Envoy (Clan Envoy) will pick up the slack or ask for assistance from the ProConsul. This was decided by the Clan Summit (CON, PCON, KCE) for the best interest of not over delegating the tasks required to establish new member mentorship.

My second bit of news comes, not as a shock for many, but a surprise for a few.... the Consul's Coven has been shifted once again - though several will retain their positions, some gaining new ones - however, it was never my aim to give those positions to individuals in leadership positions. Thus we will evaluate the need for future appointments carefully. At this time the following individuals will act as remaining Coven members: Lusankya - Codemaster, Timbal - Loremaster, Xen - Ward, Nathaniel - Ward, Adam - Ward, Predator - Ward.

My third revelation comes with much anticipated protests... the removal of Battle Teams. I have spoke with both the ProConsul and Quaestors and we have came to the conclusion that we must re-establish what we are seeking from a Battle Team, her members and its leader. Already in the preliminary stages is a Battle Team Handbook to discuss these varying aspects; however, we each agree that there is much desire and need for these teams... thus, once we have grown as a Clan we will bring them back for clusters of like-minded, dedicated and active individuals.

But do no fret, as the new Battle Teams will emerge the Quaestors and I will be working to integrate the old one's into the prevalent fiction and working mechanics of each House. Already the Dragon Guard was decided upon as the guard of the HAD QUA - while the HC QUA still ponders the same for his very own personal retinue. The other teams, in which we have built our traditions and legends upon, will find similar homes in our fictional backdrop.

My fourth bit of news comes on the tail of Rhaub being appointed as Aedile of Acclivis Draco. It has become increasingly apparent the Clan Senate is a redundant, secondary layer of administration that is ineffectively used. So with heavy heart I disband the Senate - at this time - until a further use can be bestowed upon the shrinking group of active elders whom have solidified the Clan's future. Perhaps one of their ranks will step forward, with a proposal to make it effective, then it may be reinstated.

Ahem, now... there are not all black clouds in our future. No, no... there is not. We have grown incredibly as a Clan over the past several months since a dismal finish in a Clan Feud and our excellent 4th place finish in the Great Jedi War... one where we overcame perils and untold troubles to stand strong within the Brotherhood.

We have in place a host of strong leaders and advisors. I could not thank everyone enough for their past year of contributions and those they will be offering within the upcoming year... our clan runs on everyone's dreams, not just a stubborn few's ambitions.

In the future we can look forward to new Battle Teams with a fresh history, one where you will be able to forge forward creating - opposed to delicately treading on the past traditions. We can stand proud of our animal affinity with a new set of animals from our Menagerie Handler, Thran Occasus - including several quests/battles for a pair of larger, voracious beasts. And perhaps, the Merit system will blossom as we look forward to advancing our cause as a Clan!

Most importantly will come from the beginning of everyone's opportunity to create a stronger, fictional background for the Clan. No idea is too small (or large) for creation and implementation within the Clan. Already young Sith Knight Zeron is sponsoring one of my first clan development competitions - create an Army/Navy NPC - and you will be given the opportunity to help in countless other ways (create landmarks, cities, temples, NPCs). The options will be limitless (unless you count the limitations of your own mind)!

So yes, there will be a great deal of change... some unpleasant, others absolutely riveting... yet, I ask you to maintain your faith in this Clan - it is still home, no matter what shape it takes. And I invite each of you to join in Phoenix and I's dream of a Clan we each contribute in, we each play a part in creating...

What this Clan needs now, more than leaders... more than elaborate schemes and ideas... are, quite simply and truthfully, active members. By focusing, as a Clan, on events like JA Training Night... Sunday Invitation Tourney (SIT)... Rite of Supremacy (RoS) and the Great Jedi War (GJW)... and hitting these events as a united front - we will propel ourselves to the forefront of the Brotherhood.

Many challenges, abroad and within, have arrived in a single year. And, since the split from the Exodus we have gone from a sense of supremacy to an awareness of uncertainty where our strengths lie.

So we go forward with confidence, because this call of history has come to the right Clan - Our Clan.
