CNS Consul Report #31 - February 17th, 2007
Fairly interesting week, but fairly comfortable as well...as it should be.
There is a LOT of important stuff I'm going to discuss in tonight's report, so make sure you read the whole thing.
Total CON Emails: 45
Jac has been Grand Master for a long time, over 2 years. I think that for a lot of you, Jac is what Pope John Paul II was to me. You see, I was raised as a Catholic, and John Paul II became Pope in 1978, and I was born in 1981, so basically when the pope died, I was like, "Whoa, this is going to be different. I've never had someone else as the pope." You see, as far as I was concerned, John Paul II was THE pope, and the fact seemed unchangeable. So, I figure that's how some of you might feel about Jac. Jac was THE Grand Master, the only one you've ever had in your DB career, which is understandable.
I myself have gone through many Grand Masters in my time in the DB. And yet, back in 1999 or 2000, it didn't seem to matter so much WHO the Grand Master was. I was only concerned with how my house was doing, independent of anything going on outside. To a certain degree I still feel this way. As most of you are aware, I am remarkably ignorant of what goes on in other clans, and I usually find out these things in conversations with people who seem to know things that they shouldn't know. Heh.
So, I don't know. I don't know how things will change, or if they'll change. Just remember that I'm still here, and I'm not going anywhere, and no matter what happens, Clan Naga Sadow is the way it is because we are a tight-knit community and nothing will change that. I think that's what I wanted to say about this.
Well, this is probably the best participation I've gotten in a CNS Historical Campaign, with 10 submissions. Here are your results.
Event #1 - (Fiction) Fighting Manesh
Vladek, you submitted something, but there was a 2 page minimum in the official requirements. It could have been a crappy 2 pages, but 2 pages nonetheless.
Event #2 - (Fiction) Manesh Turns To Light Side
1st - Malisane - Amethyst Crescent (I want to say that Malisane's entry was touching, and it probably best reflects who I am as a person, and how I'd "realistically" turn light, and the aftermath surrounding it).
2nd - Rai - Sapphire Crescent
3rd - Thorin - Emerald Crescent
Event #3 - (Graphics) Manesh vs. Yacko
1st - Maol Nor Lexu - Sapphire Crescent
2nd - Dragaff - Emerald Crescent
3rd - Malik - Topaz Crescent
Event #4 - (Other) Making Manesh Feel Better
1st - Imperial - Emerald Crescent (the most detailed)
2nd - Dragaff - Topaz Crescent (the most dead-on)
3rd - Malik - Quartz Crescent (the silliest, yet true one)
I'll be working with Malik over the next few days to get CNS Historical Campaign #5 ready. We'll want to work quickly, in order to get this 2-week competition completed before the DB-wide vendetta starts.
After a few weeks of dicussion, and about 80 emails, (a most wonderful example of CNS's discussion-based decision making) the Conclave has decided on a modified set of requirements for promotion to Dark Jedi Knight. Check them out:

My guess is that the new trials add about 20% more work for the Jedi Hunter. It is imperative that all Jedi Hunters are aware of the new requirements. Any masters should make their students aware of these requirements, because this is it. The changes were made because we wanted a set of trials that, when completed, almost guarantee a promotion to Dark Jedi Knight.
one of the new Knight trials is to conduct a competition, of any type, for the clan. I will make a better effort to show that your competition is important by participating in them myself. Trust me, I have the free time. :P
I would also encourage members in general to run competitions if you feel like it. But, in general, it's a good idea to check with me to get my approval, and to note it in the comments when you submit the competition.
I'm not just saying this because I'm obsessed with having one of the highest crescent levels in the DB (I know I'm in the top 10, and I know Ylith as more than me, and I'll never catch him). I just felt that there haven't been as many competitions as there could be. I dunno, I'll have to check the competitions page and see which ones I'll participate in.
Yay! There's already been an email thread about this one!
There were 2 other promotions this week. Not exactly sure why this has been a slow week for promotions, but meh.
Dragaff got a CF for participation in the Bryar Bowl. Meh, didn't participate in that. He also got another CF because Lucius had a backlog. Bah Lucius, that doesn't help me when writing my report!
In the 2nd week of the ORW, Vladek got 12 CFs, I got 6 CFs, Daunte Gin got 6 CFs, Ylith got 4 CFs, Horus got 2 CFs, and Aticus got 1 CF.
I am told that for some twisted reason, Ylith and Xayun are playing each other in the semifinals of the JA ladder. I sense a conspiracy, designed to prevent CNS dominance of that event.
And there you have it.
