1) Tal Times is here, and reborn?

The first issue of this year is here! 2007 brings a new tone to our Clan newsletter. We now have an actual listed staff to call on for articles as well as the normal member contributions, we have a new banner and logo design thanks to our very own Ricco, and we are set for four fantastic releases this year. Of course we have mostly humor in our issues, but its top quality Tal style! Thanks to all those that submitted, and look for an even bigger and better GJW Edition coming at the end of May!

2) Summit Changes

We had a few changes lately to our House leadership. Baron stepped down in Archanis as Aedile. OT Fire-Knight has stepped up and took on the position. In House Dinaari Odium has stepped down due to time constraints. DJK Hel-Pa Sklib has moved from Ektrosis to Dinaari to take up Aedile. Both of these guys are great and should do excellent work for their Houses. With active leadership going into the major events coming we should be ready to move! Thanks to Baron and Odium for their time and efforts in leadership, you both did wonderfully.

3) AWOL Check nears the End

The AWOL Check is supposed to go to Sunday but I'll be moving on and sending the list to remove in Thursday. If you haven't replied to me on it, or you are easily visible and active, you might want to contact me ASAP and say what's up with yourself these days. Good response so far, most folks are apparently here. =P

4) Rite of Supremacy Approaching!

Grand Master Sarin put out a report last week and described the event as being "focused on individual members of the Brotherhood as they fight to determine who is supreme across the spectrum of Dark Brotherhood activities." This will be our chance to show we are still strong and haven't lost our edge since the last Great Jedi War. I want to see Taldryan members taking up all the top placements, and I know we can win this entire event easily if we all get involved and give our best. We have some talented people here, a lot of loyal members, and we stand up when it's time for our Clan's track record to be tested. Next Thursday will be the beginning of the 16 day Brotherhood-wide competition. Be ready to pwn!

5) PCON Applications

I have received five applications so far. I haven't checked them yet and won't until later this week. You still have until Saturday to get one in if you are interested. We have a wide variety of folks interested already, and it shows who wants to advance and who has ideas about where to take the Clan. Whether a person is picked in the end or not, bringing up your desire to move up and help the Clan in the future is worth applying.

1) New Deputy Grand Master

Sarin has picked our now former Master at Arms, Halcyon Rokir, to move up to the second in command position. Major congrats to him, hope he does well there. I know Halc is a good guy and will do great directing the upcoming events and developing the Brotherhood further. Don't fail us, er, but if you do you can come back to Taldryan. =D

2) New Master at Arms

Since Halc did move up, the next logical choice for MAA was his Praetor. Major, major congrats to our own Kraval Novir moving up to the position! I know Kraval will do great here. He worked with both Kaek and Halc on policies and will keep them going. We hate to lose such a member, but he knows Taldryan is still his home in the end.

3) Outerrim War III: The Subterrel Conflict

The ORW has just concluded its fifth week with the Sith faction, basically just us, coming out on top. We currently have 7 planets, the Rebels have 4, and the Imperials are close to elimination with just 1 planet left. Basically all we need to do now is win two more weeks in a row to take the sector and win the entire event. I'm glad some of our members have been showing up for this and encourage you to do the same this coming weekend. Let's show these other clubs who is boss and finish this one!

4) Rite of Supremacy: Second Darkness

Worth mentioning again, it's coming up next week! We don't have a ton of competitions going right now, mainly due to this, but there is still stuff people can enjoy. Starting on the 15th up until the middle of May we will be focused on winning the Rite of Supremacy and the Seventh Great Jedi War. Once these hit I'll be doing short reports, maybe even twice a week depending on how much we have going once it starts. As normal, this will be a great opportunity for you guys to get awards and promotions. We usually don't have two major events side by side like this, so that only increases the rewarding!

We had several events come to a close recently plus several new ones started. Let me hit on those quickly.

The Hunters - This one ended awhile ago, but Erin hasn't rewarded for this one yet. This'll be out shortly, one way or another.

Clan Cooperative RO - This one is over and just waiting on Erin to judge and award them. There was decent participation across the board on this competition. Good job everyone.

Taldryan: History in Motion - This one bummed me. Not a person participated here. I'll have to jump on this one myself I guess. If you are still interested in helping here just let me know in the next few days.

Firmament & Growth - We had two members send in some great submissions. Daar Kareth and Ricco Vao are both from House Archanis and did work for both artifacts. Daar's submission for the Rite of Firmament and Ricco's submission for the Orb of Growth are now shown on the Possessions page. Congrats to them on the awards and major thanks for helping in the development in our graphical department. Their work can also be found in the Archives section.

Super Happy Awesome Fun Time: CTF Edition - This is a brand new competition we are going to be running monthly now. It's open to all DB gaming platforms that support Capture the Flag mode. I'll have a website up soon with a ladder and excel record to keep all the reported matches in. Crescents, Clusters of Fire, special titles, and even a custom Warbanner to use for a month is up for grabs here. Play CTF, enjoy, and get rewarded!

Taldryan Topic: Are you ready? - Another new monthly event, this time it's a simple fiction about preparing for the Rite of Supremacy coming up. We'll have the format change each month. These could be straight up fictions, serious or humor, comic strips, newspaper headlines, poetry, tall tales, or something on an event from your own point of view for instance. I already have a great idea for next month, I know some will jump at it in a heart beat.

We have SA Trivia and another SA related competition that are Brotherhood wide, we have Tal Trivia, and lastly three House related competitions that just started up, but I'll let those House leaders tell you about them. As normal, you can check what's up at any time on the Tal competition page.

1) Taldryan Battle Royal Update

We have hit the final match! Smoke and Kraval are battling for the title of Taldryan ACC Champion and a new Clan-specific ACC weapon. Good luck to both, we'll keep this one going till it ends regardless of the Rite of Supremacy.

2) Coming Soon, Really, I mean it!

The new Clan-wide promotion guide will be out this week. I'm going to be compiling up what has been talked about by the Summit, tweak it out some, and present it for final changes and get it out before the week ends. Yay!

3) Tal Trivia...Again?!?!

Yes, but it'll be IRC trivia this weekend ran by me. I only received two responses to the trivia in my last report so it's time to switch it up a bit. Look out for it on IRC in #taldryan.

4) Awarding

Waiting on two trackers to come in shortly for February and we'll be doing some awarding and promoting that is long overdue for this year so far. MAA Kraval will be going on a week long LoA this Sunday so we'll have those into him before then. I apologize for the entire Summit on not keeping up here, this is going to change. Both QUA and AED are now required to do monthly trackers to make sure we catch it all, we'll be doing monthly leadership reviews, and keeping people rewarded as needed is going to be our priority at this point.

It's been a hectic few weeks for me here. I've gone through a major inventory at work, mostly got over our House renovations, and been trying to keep up with all the activity here. Can't count out all those random CTF matches I am getting pulled into as well, heh. Life has been busy.

While that's a good thing to keep going all the time, it sorta brings me down how fast time is flying by. Here we are in March already. Recently I've had some deaths around me in real life, family and others, and it just makes you realize how short life is. I don't want to bring everyone down, but I just want to say that I hope you all enjoy life to the fullest everyday. I've been jumping on myself lately for stuff, just stupid stuff. Getting bent up on small things, being way to picky, being an ass too much at times, it's all a waste of time. My goal this year that I hope to live up to is drop a bunch of the shit and just live life to the fullest. I'll do my best in work, at home, and here that I can. I'm going to try and not complain near as much. I'm also at the point I really am thinking about where I want to go in life more. So yeah, don't know why I started rambling on so much here, but you get the point. Live life; enjoy it, ALL OF IT.

As a Clan we are sort of at a crossroads. Our Summits have been changing up more and more recently, we'll have a new Proconsul soon enough and we have older members standing up and participating as well as much newer members taking their place and being active within the Clan. This is a good thing and I want to see our activity rise, rise for the upcoming events and beyond them. I'll do my part, I'll get the Summits moving and doing what they can, and together say six months from now we should have more victories under our belt and a much more diverse membership and leadership. Seriously though, we are doing pretty good compared to last year at this time and I'm proud of that. We'll keep on pushing, keep on progressing, getting better, yet never drop who we are. Rock on guys!
