Scholae Palatinae:

I come before you today not as your Consul, but as a member of the Dark Brotherhood and Clan Scholae Palatinae. I hope you will contemplate the idea I am about to convey, discuss it amongst yourselves and reflect upon the heart of the message I bring forth.

Recently the Grand Master's report highlighted an escalating issue of "Intellectual Arrogance" within and amongst the Clans that is developing into a menacing, darkening cloud about the Brotherhood. Sarin aptly conveyed that speaking down to people, insulting one another, and bullying individuals with different beliefs than our own was the path that led us from the Emperor's Hammer. Additionally, he stressed that our intent should not be hostile, but focused on building new friendships and 'playing a little Star Wars.'

Now, my thoughts...

The Unspoken Vow. By joining into this club - the Dark Brotherhood - we have sworn ourselves to abide by the Vision & Mission Statement of the club. That is, we have become part of a Social Contract - a voluntary agreement among individuals by which an organized society is brought into being and invested with the right to secure mutual protection and welfare or to regulate the relations among its members - and we are honor bound by the guidelines set forth.

In the wisdom of The Seven - those individuals whom established our freedoms - we have been given parameters in which we must abide. That is to say, the general rules of conduct have been provided at the core of our club's values.

The Vision of the Dark Brotherhood is to set the standard of integrity, intellect, and achievement for our members, allies and the online communities in which we reside, providing the highest forms of entertainment value, social interaction, and fun.

In line with our Vision, The Mission is dedicated to fostering a truly unique online experience, to be obtained through no other channels. In pursuit of this mission - in an attempt to fulfill our vision - the Brotherhood will:

Encourage all members to work with high moral character - a combination of qualities that make an individual ethically admirable - in their pursuits. From the lowest of Apprentices to the Grand Master, the Dark Brotherhood will be a place for all to reside without undue politics and harassment.

Provide innovative services and programs designed to entertain individuals and solidify the bonds between comrades.

Encourage a fulfilling online experience by offering entertainment not available elsewhere

Create opportunities for our members to participate - actively compete and share ideas - within the Brotherhood on a daily basis.

Empower our members by letting them help shape the Dark Brotherhood's future through a more liberal and democratic approach to decision making.

Encourage our members to take an active role in advancing the Dark Brotherhood's interests by volunteering their time and contributing to the overall well-being of the club.

Communicate effectively and efficiently through the proper channels to all members.

Value membership achievements and award the members as per their participation.

Establish positive, lasting relationships with our members.

Encourage all members to be of strong mind and body.

To succeed as a Clan, and Brotherhood, we must always be mindful of our mission as a club. We must uphold this mission at the lowest level - the individual member - before we can see growth as a club.

By holding ourselves accountable we ensure that the values of our club will be upheld and that just action will prevail through dark times. By holding your fellow Clansmen accountable, we ensure that Scholae Palatinae becomes a beacon of light in the darkness... and, resonating through us, good will and amicable behavior amongst members will become the standard of our club.

That is your mission, Scholae Palatinae. Go forth and bring good will to every encounter, hoping for the same in return.
