_The Battlemaster sat quietly in the shade of the large tree which stood guard over the meditation garden. She had escaped from the routine monotony of her office to enjoy an afternoon of personal training. Above her in the tree, one of the House’s Ysalamiri dozed while it enjoyed its own outing.

Silently, Rasilvenaira smiled at the curious glances and hushed whispers from the small group of journeymen who’d gathered to watch her training. She was aware that they were getting restless now that she had settled down to rest for a moment to meditate. Finally one grew bold; the young novice stepped forward, cautiously approaching the Aedile.

Without turning around or even moving, Rasilvenaira chuckled, “Contrary to popular belief, I don’t bite, nor does the Ysalamir. What is on your mind, youngling?”

The Novice froze with a confused expression on his face. Turning at last to face him, the Battlemaster grinned, and then looked over to the rest of the gathered journeymen. “The rest of you might as well come over here and stop hovering, thinking I don’t know you’re all there.” Looking somewhat crestfallen for having given themselves away, they moved in and settled on the ground around her.

“Aedile StormRaven?”

“Yes?”

The Novice paused, then asked, “Why do you train with a Ysalamir around, they block the force.”

“Aye, they do, and that is exactly why I train with them every so often.” She held up a hand to stall any further questions as she continued, “The power of one’s mind is a great thing, even without the force, it is far too easy for a Jedi to grow too reliant on the force always being present. Think about it, if you never work to train your mind and body to work well without the force, then the force becomes both your strength and your weakness if you ever are left without it. Accept and learnt to use the force, yes, it is a powerful gift and a strong weapon to have, but don’t allow yourselves to become complacent, forsaking the skills and abilities that are yours by nature that do not rely on the force.”_
