Goings-on

What a week for competitions to come out! Check out the details below. I'm hoping a majority of you will catch the run-on fever and make a post or two. If you need help developing your posts or ideas on what to post I'll be happy to help. I'm just an email away.

Medals for this week go to Levathan. He nabbed a nice little Crescent with Emerald Star for submitting the gaming death that ran in last weeks report. I got a Dark Cross but that was for helping with judging submissions for a Clan Feud outside of Tarentum. I'm just a sucker for helping others.

Brimstone passed a few more Shadow Academy tests this week. Starfighter Tactics, Enemy Starfighter Eng/Tech, the Obelisk Core, and the Test of Endurance. Very cool man! I hope you enjoy taking part in some of the weekly gaming events. They can be so much fun.

I know I said I'd get the first chapter of my character development thing out soon and I'm sorry for not doing that last week. It will be out along with a little competition to go along with it and a message board thread for discussion on the 7th. I don't want to clash with the run-on so nothing will require a lot of time and you'll get plenty of days for discussion before chapter 2 comes out. I encourage everyone to not only participate but to give feedback.

Competitions

I'm still not seeing very many CC'ed emails containing competition submissions. You can't get a promotion and a nice medal unless you participate. I guess being active on mIRC will help you along but only for so long. I highly recommend trying everything from the gaming nights to the Monthly Topics or MTs to the various competitions the summits make-up. You might just find something you find entertaining and fun to do. Anyways, on to the list!

There's always the weekly SA trivia held on IRC. I’m guessing in the #SA channel every Saturday at approximately 1300 EST. Make sure you check the DB news page for weekly updates.

Oh and there's the Inter Club Training Event or ICTE that happens every Saturday in the #outerrim channel. You'll need some games for that. There's also the Gaming nights during the week if you happen to fancy a game. I'm not sure when these happen or what schedule rotation it is on so just hop into #dbgaming and #outerrim to see what's going on. On the weekly gaming nights you can also try for an ACCLive! match but you'll have to pass qualification first.

Ramblings and Other Such Things

Cool Game Death - This one is from Kazarelth.

"It was a dark, stormy afternoon. {To be read in a very happy tone...) I had no school. So I decided to play a game I recently bought. Star Wars Episode I : The Phantom Menace. To say the least, it was an impulse-buy. Anyway, I start playing. Starts off with me being Obi. I was feeling invincible, because I had a taste of the Jedi Knight Series, in which the blaster-bolts are automatically deflected by the lightsaber. Ah, there I find them droids. I say: "Stupid 'bots..." {And then I think... "Er... I don't think that was an intended pun...!"} They look at me. I look at them; hand away from the mouse. They shoot. I look at them; hand away from the mouse. The blast hits me. I look at the blasts; hand away from the mouse, brain screaming as I see my hit points go down.

DAMN THEM DROIDS!!!"

Work Related Fun - This past week was a nasty one. It started with four hundred of those five gallon metal barrels (about 20 liters a pop for those who don't go by gallons). We got a shipment up from North Carolina that had the required paperwork but everything on it was all wrong. So it was a chore trying to explain to them (the FedEx ramp down there) that they couldn't count. Wednesday saw an eight hundred piece shipment which had to be taken care of piece by piece. At least they were small and light. And that was all just for our Asian flight. There was a three ton shipment of big metal barrels going out to Europe, how fun that one was. Plus I kind of laughed on the inside as a coworker explained to a ramp agent how the Dangerous Goods Specialist on his slide was suppose to do their job. Oh and if your job requires steel toed safety shoes, wear them. A know it all ramp agent (these guys are basically like assistant managers) decided he didn't need his safety shoes and broke his toe. Nice.
