Progress. It can be measured in the smallest or largest of units in the smallest or largest increments of time. But, in the end, the formula is universal and requires two elements: activity and time. The combination of these two can lead to the progress of a member's accomplishments, a mentor's teaching or a leader's ability to deliver new, dynamic advancements to his respective unit.

Sometimes there will be varying factors that affect progress... be it time, dedication or lack of opportunities. But it is when obstacles place themselves before our progress that we must be steadfast... we must show perseverance. Perseverance can be defined as 'steady persistence in adhering to a course of action, a belief or a purpose.

And I bring all this rambling together with a question... do you have a purpose, a belief or a course of action?

I do. And as a Consul, I will share it with you. It starts with a purpose... to usher in a new era of greatness within Clan Scholae Palatinae. This is enforced by my belief... that there is no finer group of individuals in the Brotherhood whom stand united, together, as a single Clan based on compassion and commitment to its fellow members. And my course of action... is to build the necessary foundation, creating unlimited opportunities for each of you to succeed within the Brotherhood before our eventual ascension to First Clan.

Cocytus Olympiads (aka CSP Summer Games)

The Clan-wide event is already in full swing! Several members put a great deal of time into searching for links, creating events and web sites so that each of you may be afforded the opportunity to advance yourselves in this massive, twelve competition event! Rarely, in my experience, have I seen so many competitions - in such a wide variety - be available to an entire clan!

Some of the younger Journeymen can establish enough activity to merit advancement, while those of Knighthood or Equite rank can use these twelve submissions to bolster their activity trackers for eventual advancement or greater Merit Medals!

By taking the initiative to be active now, you set the tone for yourself in the upcoming Great Jedi War!

Gaming

The past two weeks has seen a return to the 'regular' gaming activity I have become accustomed to as the Consul of the Clan. I have seen a great many of you participating in the Gaming Nights hosted by the Tribune: Gaming, Dark Adept Korras, collecting Clusters of Fire and the elusive Pendants of Blood.

In case you may have forgotten, or are in need of a reminder, the Gaming Nights of the Brotherhood alternate each week: Monday, Wednesday and Friday... or Tuesday and Thursday (depending on the week). To help facilitate the rotating weeks, the Grand Master and Deputy Grand Master update the Brotherhood web site to include this information (along the right side of the page). Additionally, the Proconsul, Battlelord Phoenix, sends an e-mail to the Clan Mailer with a reminder for each gaming day.

Lets keep the focus necessary, folks. By participating in six matches on Gaming Nights you can qualify for the Sunday Invitational Tourney (SIT). Participation in the SIT awards Clusters of Fire, satisfies participation in a DB-wide competition, awards 2nd Level Crescents (Ruby, Amethyst, Sapphire) to the Top Three and allows the Clan to collect valuable SIT points so we can purchase ground forces and upgrades to our star fighters. Additionally... the top participating Clan may also, at times, be awarded new star fighters by the Tribune: Fiction.

Writing

With the appointment of a new Tribune: Fiction, Krath Priest Ricco Vao, the Brotherhood has seen the reemergence of DB-wide fiction topics. These are fantastic opportunities for the members of Scholae Palatinae to fulfill their participation requirements for advancement (be it medals or promotions), collect 2nd Level Crescents, and prove the prowess of both Clan Scholae Palatinae and yourself as a writer.

Clan Projects

Everyone wants to know what the Consul and his team are doing... rightfully so... you expect us to not only provide you with unique competitions and clan developments, but you hold (or you should) us accountable for working for the betterment of the Clan. So I will present the items on my list (by priority) that I am working on for you all!

Web Site - I have had a new layout for a month now; however I am courting a coder right now

House Prospectus - Working with the QUAs to develop both Caliburnus and Acclivis Draco

There are countless other projects near completion or in line for work, but they are on hold until the completion of these current projects and the launching of our new site!

THE FIN

We are still enjoying our success from the Rites of Supremacy, but it is time to begin grinding the activity that makes our clan unique and productive. There are twelve competitions in the Summer Games/Olympiads that you can each participate... and, if you play your cards right, you are guaranteed five crescents to represent your participation in events 1-5 (which close Wednesday morning).

Also, remember that activity - over time - helps power our progress as individuals, a House and a Clan. All of which comes through our perseverance... so be sure to e-mail your CON with your purpose, beliefs and course of action pertaining to your growth in the Dark Brotherhood!
