Headmaster’s Report
Things are just moving right along… Good news below
Test Highlight
Actually, instead of doing one test this week, I want to take this time to promote all of them, especially in light of Summer School. In this competition, the person who passes the most Shadow Academy exams between May 21 and June 4 will get a little something extra.

Job Notices

Congratulations to Ricco Vao for becoming EP of Sith Empire III. Tyno is the new ESET EP. In both of these cases, they were the only ones to apply for the jobs. There are currently no new job openings in the Shadow Academy.

Dark Side Degrees

Over the years, several people have asked something to the effect of “how do I earn a degree?” Ok, actually, it was more like “what is Dark Maven and how do I get it?” Anyway, after reviewing some of Spears’ old reports and giving this some thought, I’m going to (in the near future) open up Dark Maven to the entire Brotherhood. There will be more than one way to receive it. They are as follows:
•Be an EP and have served the Shadow Academy well for a decent length of time (this is the old way).
•Dark Maven degrees may be used by the Headmaster as rewards in Shadow Academy related competitions. This is at the Headmaster’s discretion and will go to those who make some extra effort.
•Finally, provided you meet a couple other criteria, your clan summits will be allowed to nominate you, much in the same manner that Seals of Loyalty are done.
There will also be things that will result in the degrees revoked. More information will be forthcoming in my Dark Voice article, so read that when it comes out. I’ll go ahead and tell you that the idea is to help keep Dark Maven within reach of members, but rare enough to where they still indicate something. The other degrees aren’t changing because it gets very hard to quantify things or set “levels” for the degrees.
** Ongoing Projects**

Here’s just a quick list on things that are being worked on at the Shadow Academy as you read this. A couple new courses (weapons, the new starfighters course, and, by Sarin and Raken, an Okemi/Triumvirate course), minor new member oriented projects (reworking of welcome letter, order interest survey, and, of course, Summer School.

Trivia
Congratulations go out to Locke and Merlance for winning the IRC event this past weekend. Congratulations go to Aabsdu and Raken for winning the message board event. Awards will be coming soon. Stay tuned to the main page for trivia announcements.

Questions, Comments, etc.
All of the projects I work on, from new courses to competitions (including trivia) to working out the fictional aspects of the Shadow Academy, are things I do because I believe that the general membership wants them or likes the end result. I admit it: sometimes these things are enjoyable, and other times they’re not, but they get done because they’re for the betterment of the Brotherhood, or at least what I, and others, perceive as such.

That being said, if you ever have any questions, comments, complaints, etc. about something that I’m doing, please don’t hesitate to bring it to my attention.

I award myself the degree because I have the power, so why not abuse it!?!?!?!!!
Gratz Tyno and Ricco!
Awwww the old way was the best way. Also known as the "Degree awarded on a whim" method.
