Erm... yeah. Weekend again.
And that means you'll get some ramblings from my side. The big item on the block is the just released House competition for Acclivis Draco. What was only vaguely hinted at last week now has a name:
MISSIO DRACONIS - Quest of the Dragon.
It also has a website:
http://www.krath.org/csp/DragonQuest/
I hope that there will be a huge lot of entries to this event and I will not hesitate to recommend promotions to those journeymen who perform well and consistently in this event.
Speaking of CONSISTENCY...
House Acclivis Draco - and the Clan as a whole - are preparing for war. This should not be a secret or a surprise to anyone in our ranks except maybe those who joined just the last week. While the Great Jedi War is still some six or eight weeks away, the one thing that will make us win is consistency. Just look back at the Rite of Supremacy. CSP had its share of Novae, but much more importantly, the Clan had a solid participation in every event, from day one to the last day. And by virtue of it, we placed second overall and actually managed to threaten the reign of the ever-dominant Taldryan. For the Great Jedi War, this will apply again. I know many members who become complacent after they have brought home a Nova or a few Seals, considering it can't get any better. Wrong! Yes, you might have written your Gold Nova winning poem on day one of the war, but that means you now have a lead to defend! Or, of course, one to reclaim. And if you are always in the middle of the pack, get your score by sheer persistence. Let others do one event and walk home with 150 points, if you do eight for 20 each, you still beat them overall.
House Acclivis Draco has once beaten House Aleema in a GJW. It was MY House Aleema they beat. And they did not beat it by a big margin, they beat it by HALF A POINT. Now, in that GJW, each submission was at least worth one point. One of my Aleema members left me in the cold on the last day, promising me a submission and not coming through. Acclivis Draco did not have such a problem - everyone who said they would enter did. Net result: HAD won. HAD won because it kept its promises. And I will hold this HAD to that standard.
Missio Draconis is your chance to prove RevengeX, Braecen, Phoenix and myself what you are made of. Whether Novice or Master, I will closely follow your progress over the next weeks, add in your RoS performance and the one of the Summer Games and roles of responsibility in the war - team leads, places on squads with limited membership, critical run-on posts - will come to those who impress me with consistency and being someone to rely on.
A few words of non-wisdom (the ones who it applies to know what I mean)
I absolutely like if people do their jobs. And, if in the course of doing so, they are a bit overeager and make a small mistake, this happens. I much prefer that to a timid member who I have to guide through a task so much that I would be faster doing it myself. Which brings me to - when someone made a mistake (or you think so), politely point it out in private. And when someone points out your perceived mistake and it really was a mistake, apologize and rectify it. You'll find that this is the safest way that will prevent this mistake from occurring twice.
And now go and join the Quest of the Dragon. You won't want to be left in your quarters while your Housemates make off with all the treasure.
Yup. Ramblings done. "Submit report". And back to making Missio Draconis.
