_ Rasilvenaira muttered as the com unit next to her started beeping, interrupting her thoughts. Flipping it on, she heard the familiar voice of the Chief Hangar Control officer. “Aedile StormRaven?”

“Yes, what is it?”

“There’s a small transport requesting to land, pilot says he’s here to see you, but won’t say what his business is.”

“Let him land, and have one of the security officers escort him up to my office.”

“Alright.” The com unit went silent and Rasilvenaira mused over which of her various contacts had decided to show up.

Moments later the security office arrived at her office, and as the door slid open, he escorted a rather scrawny Kel Dor inside. “Greetings, Aedile, this fellow said he has business with you.”

Rasilvenaira nodded, “Thank you, it’s fine. Leave us.” He bowed and left the office. “Well Nyr, I wasn’t expecting to see you so soon, I hope you’re not here to tell me you failed.”

Nyr paled visibly as he noticed the deadly Arashi-Kumori resting on her desk, within easy reach as she studied him. “No, no, I haven’t failed, I have it.” He nervously stepped forward and set a small parcel down on her desk and then backed away.

Rasilvenaira inspected the contents of the package, and then tucked the parcel away in one of her desk drawers. “Excellent work, Nyr, which is of course what I pay you for. You’re free to go, stop by the Cantina if you wish before you leave; I’ll let Security know that you’re around.”

The Kel Dor nodded and left the office trying not to look like he was in a hurry. The Aedile chuckled and returned her attention to the work at hand. _

That quote is something I think everyone needs to remember. It is easy sometimes to forget when we’re dealing with people online that people still have feelings, and even though email and IRC and such allow us to communicate with each other, they fail to convey the things you would notice in talking to someone in person. So it is hard to see when someone is joking or if they’re upset. What we say and do each day impacts everyone that we come in contact with, and because of that, we must strive to remember that our words and actions are our responsibility. Think before you speak, it’s a sage piece of advice, and one I encourage everyone to remember. Granted, we’re all individuals and everyone is going to have moments when emotions override common courtesy, but if we are constantly aware of how our words and actions affect others, a lot of trouble can be avoided.
