Opening:

Greetings Clan Naga Sadow, it’s summertime and for most people that means fun and relaxation. Within the Dark Brotherhood however we see the shadow of war about to fall upon us. Now I’m not going to bore you by exhorting you to go practice your gaming, or writing skills, or to get active by participating in any competitions. I’m going to take a page from Manesh and entail you all with something light and totally non-sequitur.

TIE Fighters Tie

Some may call these pigs in a blanket. I call them a new way to play with your food.

4 pre-cooked sausages or hot dogs, about 5 inches long

1 package refrigerator breadsticks (containing 8 breadsticks)

Ketchup and mustard, to taste

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cut sausages in half crosswise and set aside. Separate breadstick lengths and cut in half. You should have 16 lengths when finished.

Place one sausage half; cut side down, on a baking sheet. Take 1 length of dough and wrap around the base of the sausage. Cross the ends to form a letter V. Using another length of dough, repeat the process forming an upside-down V. Repeat with remaining dough and sausage halves.

Bake according to breadstick package directions, or until dough is puffy and golden. Serve with ketchup and mustard. Makes 8 TIEs.

Closing Thoughts:

OK so I’m moved into my new place successfully and everything is running fine…now. We had a bit of a mishap with the washing machine, water leaked, minor flooding, nothing huge.

The only big thing going on in my life right now is my career change. For those of you who don’t know I spent some time as a cop when I lived in Indiana, well when I moved to Georgia I thought I’d try a normal person career. My degree is in Marketing so I tried finding positions in Business or Marketing, sadly the only way to get into these positions these days is if you know someone in a company or through temp agencies. Well I didn’t know anyone so the temp agencies were tapped.

After four positions I’ve decided enough is enough. Four times I was hired, worked my butt off, and then was let go when “corporate strategies” were changed (read: “thanks for catching us up on our work, now that we look good we’ve decided we don’t want to hire you so we can save on pay and benefits”).

Well after this last time my wife said “Quit looking for corporate jobs and go back to being a cop.” So that’s what I’m doing. I figured out that I’m miserable doing mindless office work and making some rich fat a-hole richer. I need a job with purpose and direction and one where I can benefit society. So I’ve applied to several local agencies here and I’m now training so I can pass the physical agility tests. You’d be surprised how fast a few years of sitting on your butt can put you out of shape. I’m hitting the gym for an hour at a time at a minimum of four times a week, other than that I’m here working for the DB. There’s a lot of things going down and I’m glad that I can be here for it.

In closing I’d just like to ask each of you to ask yourselves one question, and please be serious and honest with yourselves when you do. Just ask: “What am I doing to benefit others?”
