Goings-on

Yet another busy, busy week and weekend. Holidays tend to mess with the normal routine so shippers make up for the lost day by shoving more stuff out before and after. I had to work the 4th of July which wasn't too bad but I would have liked to have had it off. I hope those of you in the US enjoyed Independence Day. The rest of you, hope you had a fantastic summer week.

Ok, you've all heard it. The Great Jedi War starts up on the 15th. I won't go into big, long spiels about how great I was in the last one or how much I didn't like the last one, ect. I'll get right down to what we can win here. Novas. Large capital ships. Lots of fighters. Ground forces. There's also the subsequent merit medals, promotions, and Clan titles that come with participation. Pretty sweet deal all around.

So, all I ask is for everyone to do what they can and enjoy themselves. There's going to be a lot of different things to do and a lot of chances to get a shiny Nova. I'll be here for everyone. If you need help editing a story then pass it along to me, if you need direction on how to do the gaming I am here to help, and if you just need inspiration for an event or guidance on the plot I am here for that too. I am here to help you all become a name in the DB but don't go burning yourself out trying to participate in every event. :)

Alright now for some award and SA test news. While there weren't any SA tests done this week there were a few awards. Levathan was awarded an Emerald Star for second place in the Hard Tar-Doku competition and a Quartz Star for submitting to the Gladius puzzle. Tyrus was awarded an Amethyst Star for 3rd place in the Dark Voice Logo contest and an Emerald Star for 2nd place in Mune's Graphic Comp II. A big congrats to you both! Keep up the good work and have fun above all.

You all might have noticed that we did loose Jareth Daedalus. He was not responsive to any emails nor any competitions. I was sad to see us drop yet another member with our numbers so low as is. I've already emailed Mune and Windos on my feelings about having so many BTs around. You may see a big change come after the GJW. Until then, enjoy yourselves.

There's always the weekly SA trivia held on IRC. In the #SA channel and on the message board every Saturday at approximately 1300 EST. Make sure you check the DB news page for weekly updates.

Oh and there's the Inter Club Training Event or ICTE that happens every Saturday in the #outerrim channel. You'll need some games for that. There's also the Gaming nights during the week if you happen to fancy a game. Just hop into #dbgaming to see what's going on.

Ramblings and Other Such Things

Work Related Fun – Like I said before, it was a busy week. The biggest mess up I heard about through the grapevine but apparently several thousand packages that came in on Wednesday did not go through our system and then out to their destinations. There's been a lot of finger pointing and so forth that makes me glad I had nothing at all to do with it. Otherwise, we are beginning to prepare for another International flight due to come online in September. I'm thinking about taking that whole month off :P Not really but I do question why we are bringing in another flight when we do not have the room until our new buildings are finished. I love engineers about as much as I love auditors.

Thought of the Week – "Unless you drink yourself to death, no amount of alcohol will take the pain away completely. Never hurts to try though."
