Aloha and good evening, Tarentum.
I decided I'd put out this weekend's Clan Address a little early while I have some spare time today. On the news front, Sarin is still accepting applications for the position of Tarentum's Consul. For those of you who are just joining our Clan, or who haven't heard yet (which means you haven't been reading Clan Addresses), I am resigning as Consul. I've held this position for about the past 15 months. This has been my second term as Consul, and while I am always happy to serve the Clan and all of you, it's time to step down. Again, I'm getting ready to start paramedic school come January 3 of next year, so I'm going to be mad busy with school, and I won't have the time to properly devote myself to being Consul. If you have any desire to apply for the position, please email the Grand Master, Sarin ([Log in to view e-mail addresses]) and Deputy Grand Master, Muz ([Log in to view e-mail addresses]) with your application. If you'd like more info on what to include, please check out Sarin's news post about this subject (http://www.darkjedibrotherhood.com/dbjedi/comments.asp?ID=N:5094).
One of the projects I have worked on for quite some time over the past several years have been the Clan and Order Powers, the Clan Powers in particular. When Mairin Astoris was DGM prior to the Split from the Emperor's Hammer, she asked me to head up the project to create and enhance specific powers for each Clan. After the Split, I continued the project to near-completion under Jac Cotelin, both while he was DGM and then during his second term as GM. While I have worked with, or on, each Clan's Powers and the requirements for each Level, I have always worked on really trying to enhance and perfect Tarentum's powers. Because of the amount of time I've spent on this project, I'm pretty much as familiar with it as anyone can be, possibly more familiar with it than anyone else in the DB. I decided to go through and put together an updated list of where everyone is at as far as Clan Powers, and (in some cases) noted what small "leaps" people need to take (as far as earning medals) to get to Levels higher than what they are currently at. Thus far, I have it completed through to today (December 15) for everyone ranked DJK and above. Either tonight or tomorrow, I'm going to try and go through everyone from APP to JH. I've attached the list to this email so you can all see where you are at (if you're DJK or above), or where the people within those ranks are at. The Paths that Tarentum follows as far as Necromancy (our Clan Powers) is concerned, as well as information on the Clan Powers, can be found on the DB Wiki, Clan Tarentum's section (http://www.darkjedibrotherhood.com/wiki/index.php?title=Category:Clan_Tarentum). Take some time to check things out on the Wiki, too. Check peoples' pages, and if you haven't created one yet, create your own. There's templates to use, and you can always get some helpful hints from other people in the Clan. If you need help on your Wiki, email your House Summit (all of them). Your QUA and AED can help direct you in how to create your Wiki, or enhance it.
Speaking of the Wiki, one of the projects I still want to get done is to create a couple more Wiki pages that are pertinent to everyone in the Clan. As far as Necromancy goes, one of the only pages that we have that discusses the various ranks of the Keepers (Necromancers) of the Clan is the page for the Inner Order (those who have the Clan Powers from Levels 8-12). I want to eventually have a page listing the members of the Major Tier, and then another for the Minor Tier, similar to what is done on the Inner Order's page. I also want to have a Wiki page that lists pertinent information for the Trials of Knighthood. I want it to be a resource for Summits, Team Leaders and Mentors alike in knowing how to create and run a member's Trials. I'd also like it to have useful information for members to know what they can expect in their Trials, when they can look forward to their Trials, and also what kind of opportunities and responsibilities they need to be looking for after their Trials. I'm hoping to get these things done in the next few weeks, but I don't know if I'll have the time. However, as Sarin finds a worthy replacement and time passes on, I will be working with the new Consul to try and help get this done, and work with them on how they'd like to proceed with these projects and others I have been trying to put forward.
I think I'm going to end here, but I would like to also encourage everyone to get active. If you don't talk to your House Summits, get in the habit of emailing them at least once every other week. Let them know what you're up to. Ask them how you can be involved in the House. Take the initiative, and start emailing other people in your House, and try to put a Team together. When I first joined, I was in House Gladius. The only Team we had was the once-infamous phyle the Mystics of the Black Arts. I had to email my House Summit and the Team Leader, petitioning to be allowed to join it. They had requirements set up that I had to meet, and once I met the requirements, I still had to exhibit the kind of writing I could do to gain entrance. Once in the phyle, I had to take part in activities and remain active to stay a part of the Team. The Dark Jedi Brotherhood is a Club that has been around for years, and will likely be around for many more years. Clan Tarentum has been an active part of this organization for quite a long time, ever since this Clan began as House Tarentum, formed under the legendary Magnus Kaerner and Master Zero (who still resides with us today). We have a legacy to uphold, and it is one that people don't seem to pay as much attention to it as they ought to. You are the current bearers of this great legacy, and it is your duty to continue to act as the strongest, most-dedicated members of this Clan and Brotherhood.
Live up to your legacy, Tarentum. I aspire to live up to it as much as I can, but individual actions can only do so much. We are a Clan. We are a Team. We are pretty much a family. Let us all act together, and let us all really strive to be everything I know that we can be. Have an awesome week, Tarentum. And remember. You need to do your part as much as I need to do mine. Figure out where you stand, and where you need to be. And then, let's really kick some ass.
Have a great one.
