Brothers and Sisters,

Life and Death Through Darkness. It is our creed, our credo, the Clan persuasion, our religion... our doctrine. It says that we respect both the active progression of our Clan. And it says we honorably respect the past leaders, history and accomplishments in the same breath. Yet, most importantly, that we do it all through darkness... the Dark Brotherhood. Remember that - all we do for the betterment of ourselves, should better the Clan and, through bettering the Clan, thus we better the Brotherhood itself.

Now let us begin the report...

Clan News

We have a new Consul. And with a new Consul comes a lot of emotions: resentment, hope, jealousy, love and anxiety. And, generally, it all comes bottled up in each of us. No person can possibly handle those many emotions at one time (especially us guys!) - so feel free to utilize this first week to vent to me whatever is on your mind. I promise to do my best to be objective and fair with your concerns. And I understand it is never easy to have someone from 'outside' the Clan take over. So I probably should start by explaining that I am not 'wholly' an outsider of Clan Plagueis.

I was an upstart Journeyman of Clan Exar Kun (now House Exar Kun) whom quickly ascended to the rank of Proconsul under Consul, and Grand Master, Emeritus Chi Long. Some of you may recognize that name, others may not. However, it was under Chi Long's infinite wisdom that both Clan Exar Kun and Clan Satal Keto would be brought together to form Clan Plagueis. Under this new banner his hopes rested that one Clan could stand proudly atop all others as a model of 'how' a Clan should be operated. So, if you closely inspect the record books, you will find that I was once Proconsul of Clan Plagueis - the first, in fact. And now events have transpired to bring me home to the Clan that I did so much of my growing up in (as one can truthfully admit we make most of our mistakes early in life; though we tend to make larger ones the older we get).

I also have to take blame, or is it credit, for being the primary author of Kapsina (our home planet). So expect us to have more adventures/challenges based in-system for the time being. I hope to utilize your thoughts and views to expound on the planet and give it a rich, detailed feel.

Tribune: Gaming Report: Shadow discusses three of his projects that are nearing completion. The most important of these, perhaps, is the return of the points system that allows our Clan to build on its Fleet and Ground Forces. In addition, some news about Inter-Club Training Event (ICTE) and some Cluster of Fire (CF) goodness that may result.

The Message

Every Consul report will have a "message" for the populace. This is, most often, either something that I think needs to be discussed or the result of an action that I see within our own Clan that I believe needs correcting. As I have not been in the Clan but for twenty four hours, I will elect to discuss a topic of ultimate importance (from my point of view).

What is a Clan? Directly, from the dictionary, it translates as "a group of people united by a common trait, characteristic or interest."

Yet, I am not satisfied with that simple description. It fails to regard the individual characteristics, that is the members, as vitally important. Whether you are active, semi-active or non-existent... every member, in my eyes, has worth and potential. However, I will ask - and demand during GJWs - that you give me your best, honest effort to be active and participate in the Clan.

And how will we do that? We go out together, as a team, and attack events, or opportunities, with a united front and the desire to see our name - Clan Plagueis - in as many places as possible. We want to win every ICTE, we want to win ever Monthly Topic by the Tribune: Fiction, we want... to have our name in the top three of the Brotherhood at the end of the next major, db-wide competition. And we do it by hitting as many events as we can, continuously... knowing that your Clan Summit - Ky and I - will be handing out awards and promotions to those of you whom prove yourself worthy of them.

THE FIN

So what will our first thirty days entail? I was asked this by a Journeyman... and that impressed me greatly. I want each and every member of this Clan to take ownership of it. This is as much your Clan as it is mine. I have been assigned a Leader of Equals, so that I can distribute our resources - time and effort - in a manner that will help us make progress. So, yes, majority of clan-wide projects and competitions will require me to review a proposal first; however, if your idea has merit and will bring something to the Clan, I will gladly approve it.

My first thirty days in position will be focused on one thing: functionality. If something is broke, I will fix it. If something is not broke, I will not fix it. If all my broke things are fixed, I will begin improving. What does this mean? It means I will be auditing every scrap of Plagueis-related material I can get my hands on. Should something be outdated or in need of major repair, I will add it to my list of 'things I would like to discuss' and will talk about it with my leadership team before asking for feedback from the Clan as a whole. Speaking of Leadership... my first thirty will be spent solidifying this team with individuals that are strong role models and good workers. And they will be put to work.

Leaders work for members. Remember that. Even the Grand Master has no authority should all the members turn away from him. And the same goes for a Consul and subsequent leaders within the Clan. Without the effort, and commitment, of the members, your leaders are nothing. So it will be our - the leadership team - focus to rejuvenate your trust in us to accomplish basic leadership tasks. This means I will hold our leaders to the expectations of weekly reports (minimum 3/4 in a month), Internal Reports (for my eyes), contacting new members, reviewing member dossiers (at least weekly), updating their unit mailers and running two competitions (per unit) every month. Our leaders will be invested in seeing each of you succeed at a personal level with our full effort to see you soar within the Dark Jedi Brotherhood.

As for Projects... more information will come on this as I assess what we have, versus what we need, against what I would like to have. For now, I ask that every member be as active as they possibly can be: Shadow Academy, Antei Combat Center, Gaming Nights, ICTE and the T:F's Monthly Topics.
