Report #29 - February 16th, 2008

"Another loss...that will be our last." The Consul mumbled to himself standing in a chamber looking out on the volcanic ash littering the ground under the darkened sky. House Archanis saw a closure once again, but will never be forgotten. Volcanus would still matter, those that move on will carry on the spirit of Archanis, and Taldryan will stand strong. A loss will be turned into a gain, just give it time.

As the small fictional bit there said, House Archanis has seen an end with the House closing tonight. I emailed the members yesterday and they will be shuffled to Ektrosis and Dinaari, if any didn't get with me and want to change Houses just let me know. Chaos and I have been looking at the House for awhile now and it was time we talked with Crix this week on the situation. Leadership and membership within Clan and around the Brotherhood at large is low, not at the same level it was when the House was re-opened last January. Consolidating what we have is our best option for now, but the great work House Archanis did over the past year won't be forgotten. They came back to life helping develop many amazing members, contributed hard in the Rite of Supremacy and Great Jedi War, and were a very active part of the Clan. It's sad that it came to this, but for now we return to our two House system. Many thanks to the leaders of the House past and present, it's all be excellent.
We've seen a couple heavy promotions over the past two weeks and there will be some more awards coming out this coming week for leadership and members. It's awesome to be able to do these, I love awarding contributing members any chance we can. Look at for those and keep on doing what you do so well.
A few website updates over the past two weeks I thought should be mentioned here. Benevolent fixed up the competitions page to show only the Current events when you click on that, you can open up Past events via a link there. The Site Credits and Statistics pages have been made into one. The menu on the left has been updated a bit, should flow well. There will be some more updates soon and Ben continues his work on an overhaul of the website, we might just see some of that down the road sometime. =P

Not a lot of news here this past week, considering all the news postings in the past month though we can use a short break. Grand Master Sarin re-iterated the position of Combat Master being open for applications, the Shadow Academy has seen a few updates, the Justicar put out a report re-capping his past year in office, and we have some news on the upcoming Star Wars Force Unleashed game as well as the new movie and television series in the Star Wars universe coming. We also have the Inter-Club Training Event which occurs every Saturday on IRC in #outerrim. Details on that should be on the competition page as well.

Congrats to DarkAmiz, Alanna, and Lokasena on their placement in the AED's Challenge this past week. Yacks, Shadow, and DarkAmiz took home some Crescents for placement in the "You Know You've Been in Tal Too Long When..." event, nice responses there guys. A couple past awards went out for the last Archanis Run-on as well. Keep up the competition participation when you can!

We have several writing events open to the Brotherhood at large for those looking to possibly win some more prominent Crescents as well as several House competitions going. Gaming seems to be going on steady in #DBGaming and the ICTE looked promising from what I saw today, I jumped in two team JA matches which was refreshing. I might have a new event for the Clan soon so look at for that.

Major props to Sklib on his second-level Equite promotion, also another shout out to Werdna on his promotion the week before. Nice to see Jerse returned and a warm welcome to Baron and his great activity thus far. Nice work to those awarded Clusters of Fire this week; those being Baron, DarkAmiz, and Ace.

Fire-Knight, DarkAmiz, and Rannik issued some Leave of Absence notices this week, hope things go well for you guys and you can get back with us soon.

This time I thought I'd speak a moment on respect. This isn't aimed at anyone here, but something I've been thinking about. I've been trying to go to work in a good mood everyday this year, trying not to get too annoyed by issues that come up, treating people like I hope they will do to me. Sometimes it works out well, and everything feels great, other times it doesn't work so well and I feel like complaining about crap to folks or just letting it boil up. Either way makes me feel bad afterwards and isn't an example I want to set for anyone. Respect for others and myself is something I work on more and more each day of my life and I feel better about it.

If something doesn't go right at work with someone or some duty, I try and correct it or just move on if I really can't. There is a lot of folks above and around me that lack common sense and others responsibility much of the time and it shows, and it annoys me, but I'm working to just blow it off as it's out of my control. I've got angry too many times to count at that place over the last two years, but doing that never really helps. I'm going to continue to do what I can do to the best of my abilities and go on, that's all any of us can do. Stay positive as much as possible, keep active, and don't get too stressed with life.

Works been a bit tougher this past week and probably will be for the next two as well, getting near a six-month inventory with a lot of other projects coming up. I'll still be around, and hopefully I'll actually have a week-long vacation coming up at the beginning of the month. That's always a plus there. =D

The Clan is doing some shifting with the House closing, but we'll be okay. Activity is going steady and it'll continue to pick up the farther we go. Just keep on doing what you can and enjoying life!
