DB life vs. Real Life

I have always said, and will always say, that real life comes before the Brotherhood. Ultimately, what we do here is just for fun: it certainly won’t pay the bills. I mean, you guys would have to get together quite a bit of money to match my real life salary, not to mention benefits. And I’m just one person: never mind all the other leaders.

While I say all this, I do want to emphasize, though, that if you’re going to be active in the DB, especially if you’re going to take on a leadership position, please plan on actually being active. True, real life stuff happens: sometimes by plan, and sometimes not. I know nothing is ever certain, but know you’re limits, too. That’s all I’m asking.

Clan Competition

Congrats to Raiju, Szordryn, and Evant who took first, second, and third place respectively in the overall standings for the “Settling Home” competition. This doesn’t mean they won every event, though.

I would like to commend everyone for the run-on. Sure, it wasn’t perfect, and even I made mistakes, but we finished it, and it turned out rather well. This bodes well, I hope, for future run-ons, especially in Great Jedi Wars. I have no doubt in my mind that if Tarentum’s run-on from the last GJW had better, the clan could have obtained third place. As I was one of the run-on judges, I got to read them all, and Tarentum’s was definitely no where near what the clan is truly capable of.

Speaking of clan competitions, Wrintel and Evant took first and second place in the clan trivia event last month. Awards are in the mail.

Roster Trimmed

Shortly after the clan competition awards were handed out, I e-mailed Kraval and his Praetor and had several people removed from the clan roster. House leaders have been authorized to cut and trim from their rosters as necessary. If you’re going to be gone for an extended time, set a LoA through the database. If you do this, you will be safe from AWOL checks, unless you never come back after your LoA expires. I'm still working on the clan mailing list.

Now, some people may have survived these cuts. Unless you're active, you may not survive the next ones. And just responding to e-mail AWOL checks is not enough!

DB News

Kraval is flexing MAA muscle, and has changed the rules on families in the DB. Now you need a Dark Adept to start a family. Current families still get to exist, regardless of ranks.

Don’t PM or e-mail Anga asking for Sharad (the Combat Master). Speaking of the Combat Master, the rename the ACC “competition” has been called off. Sarin is fond of his acronyms, apparently :P

Speaking of Sarin, some big news in his most recent report. First up, the Envoys are being disbanded. Now, I take exception to the “didn’t work” part, as I was having some good success when I was KCB. But, that’s when I had the time, and then I sold out the DB to become HM. Anyway, house and clan leaders get to focus on new member advancement. If you see a new member, help them out!

More GM news: Force powers and Order disciplines are coming along, if you’re interested in this. I think it’ll be neat to see, at least.

PRT lightsabers? Yes, that’s right: Protectors and above are going to have access to three lightsaber designs through the database. I haven’t seen them, yet, nor do I know exactly when they’ll be uploaded. One assumes “soon” since Sarin just talked about it today, but spoke as if it was already done. So, just be patient.

Fictional News

The clan has defeated the Hutt and his insurgency. Anshar killed Deutta the Hutt personally. At the same time, the clan managed to remain hidden from a Yuuzhan Task Force, though they did encounter a few members. Our intelligence service is working on ensuring that, if any word got out, that the Vong assume it was a small team of Jedi in hiding.

Having settled home, the clan is going to work on building its strength back up. Sometime in the future, the Grand Master will call upon all the clans to retake Antei. That much is known.

And, that kind of wraps up this edition of clan notes. Right now, there are no clan competitions, but I’ll try to have something out soon. Just something fun for everyone to do.
