House Dinaari Quaestor Report #18 - May 17th, 2008

Greetings all,

<p>It is my pleasure to announce that the 2008 Independence Games are officially over! Overall Taldryan had a fair number of submissions (both in regular events and gaming) so we should place within the top three Clans which isn't too shabby. Hopefully results will be announced sometime in the near future but even if they aren't Tarax and I will be dishing out a lot of merit medals to members of the House - our early calculations show that about a dozen members will receive an award (and some of them will be very nice indeed)! This is great news and I can't wait to award those who were active over the past several months. Several members are right on the line to get an even bigger award so be sure to put in some extra good activity within the next two weeks to try and get something better. While (non-IG) activity is down this month compared to last it was to be expected with classes/exams and the IGs themselves. There will be new competitions starting in June including a House Feud which will net big awards and bragging rights. Stay tuned for updates ...

<p>If you didn't notice my large e-mail I shall remind you again - Tarax and I are accepting applications for our June Intern position. This is an exciting opportunity for Taldryan journeymen to learn a large array of leadership and administration skills so review the e-mail again (or visit Tal.net) to see the details. Applications are due no later than May 31st at 7:59:59 PM (EST).

<p>In other news House Ektrosis has a new Aedile, Taig. It's a bit late for the customary "well done" pat on the back but I suppose it was worth a reminder at any rate. Clan-wise, Duga is accepting articles for next month's issue of the Taldryan Times, our Clan's hilarious newsletter. Just about any type of article will be accepted so I encourage you to submit something so you can go down in Clan history. Get your submissions in to Halc and Duga by the end of the month.

<p>There are a few other things going on as well - Raken, the Fiction Tribune, posted a reminder about his monthly fiction competitions - you have until June 1st to get some submissions in if you so wish. They're worth high level Crescents so if that interests you I encourage you to submit a fic or two. Other stuff involves our very own Jerse becoming the Magistrate to the Herald and Gaming Nights are now back with the conclusion of the Independence Games.

<p>Pretty slow week for awards I will admit (expect a huge amount in about two or three weeks) but we did have a few things worth mentioning nevertheless. Both Adrian Agrippa and Sage Everlight passed the Leadership Fundamentals exam at the Shadow Academy while Batmanuel earned his Training Saber certification. Finally, Vorhuan snagged three (3) Clusters of Fire for participating in last week's ICTE. Well done to all award recipients!

<p>Don't forget about my Timeline competition as I just sent out Event #2 right before publishing this report. Points will be tallied at the end of the month and Crescents will be awarded to the top three members with the most points. Also, my easter egg hunt is still ongoing so be sure to scour this report and find all the hidden gems. You must correctly identify all easter eggs to get credit - both the Timeline and Easter Egg comps for this week expire tomorrow at midnight.

<p>To finish up I recommend getting on Internet Relay Chat (IRC) to talk with your fellow Taldryan members (and the rest of the DJB if you so choose). For our Journeymen there is a wealth of competitions going on right now so if you want to get ahead start participating! Your rank is determined solely by you. Have a great week!
