House Dinaari Quaestor Report #20 - June 22nd, 2008

Greetings all,

<p>This is my first report in a while ... my thanks to Tarax for covering while I've been busy. There is a lot happening around the Clan and Brotherhood in addition to the Independence Games finally wrapping up for good. A fair amount of rewards were given out to members of the House (see the 'awards' section below) so congratulations to everyone who received something. Custom Seals (unique medals) will be given out to all who participated as well. Despite our lack of overall enthusiasm for the incredible mediocrity (if even that) known as the Independence Games our Clan managed to get second place. Not bad! The next Vendetta (real Clan-wide competition) will either be at the end of the year or the start of next year so we encourage you to throw everything you have at those.

<p>The Clan Feud is finally going to happen after all. Starting on July 1st and running for the entire month, House Dinaari will battle House Ektrosis in a Clan-wide competition. This is a friendly competition that will help flesh out a little bit of the Clan's fictional history and generate activity, especially for our Journeymen. I highly encourage all members in the House to get involved. For Journeymen (those at DJK or below) this will be your last major chance to get a great boost towards the rank of Dark Jedi Knight, especially our Jedi Hunters. For our older members this a great chance to earn a medal that you may be missing from your collection. Our Clan Consul, Halc, will release details in the near future but rest assured there should be something for everyone.

<p>There's various other news as well. There is a new Left Hand of Justice (LHoJ) by the name of Malisane. For those of you who hold the rank of DJK or higher you'll be able to apply for my job (RHoJ) in about a month so if you're interested in that keep an eye out on the main news page. The forums are a bit buggy so if by the off-chance you don't have a messageboard account already, sign-up for one and contact Muz if it screws up for you. Finally, the Headmaster, Aabsdu, has released a new Shadow Academy exam - Freighters and Transports. Check it out if you wish.

<p>Finally I just want to give a reminder about House level competitions. You have until the end of the month to submit to Tarax's "Dinaari Mad-lib" competition. This literally takes five minutes where you fill out a Mad-lib sheet and submit it to him. It doesn't get any easier than this. Further, our House Intern, Sidarace, is running the "Dinaari Kribs!" competition where you write a very brief fiction (a half page) describing any member of the House Summit's quarters. Both are truly unique competitions that you should spend a little time on.

<p>My "Hunt the Jedi" competition wraps up next week. This was a new type of competition that I tried out but the response was rather flat - most likely this was because the competition was very difficult and involved browsing tons of dossiers looking for an exact match. The answer for Round 3 was dossier # 4930 which no one correctly guessed. It's still not late to make a guess for Round 4 sometime next week. Just send in a random PIN # and you get credit.

<p>A final note on competitions (I swear). We will not be running competitions next month (July) because of the Clan Feud - there will be more than enough to do. I will not be renewing "Dominus Sicarius" for a while, either. Most importantly, I cannot say enough that Journeymen need to participate in competitions. Competitions are the lifeblood of the Dark Brotherhood and it is almost impossible to get promoted to Dark Jedi Knight (the rank everyone wants) without doing them. They don't take a lot of time, they can be fun, and you have a good chance at getting medals. Do them. Oh, and don't forget there are easter eggs in this report.

<p>There isn't much else to say that I haven't already. Activity within the House remains steady and we put up a decent showing in the Independence Games despite not really trying. With the Clan Feud I encourage all members to give what they can, especially if you want to earn that next promotion or medal. There are scant few opportunities like this for advancement so get to it! Any member of the Clan Summit will be more than glad to assist you if you have any questions or need help getting started.

<p>To finish up I recommend getting on Internet Relay Chat (IRC) to talk with your fellow Taldryan members (and the rest of the DJB if you so choose). For our Journeymen there is a wealth of competitions going on right now so if you want to get ahead start participating! Your rank is determined solely by you. Have a great week!
