Valley of Silence – Antenora

“Come on Tra’an, you can do better than that! Keep up with me!” The nagging voice of his new Quaestor called back, pushing him to keep up as they climbed the staggering walls of the Valley of Silence by hand, foregoing any kind of climbing equipment. The darkness was complete with the fact that it was not yet even sun rise. He had been dragged out of bed on this mad quest for some ungodly reason, but his was to obey, and Timbal never did anything without good reason, or by halves for that matter.

Timbal slid over the top of the ridge line, having scaled it easily for some reason, while Tra’an moved slowly under the risk of falling, having never climbed these canyon walls before. The Shi’ido heaved himself up over the top just as the sun peaked over the horizon, bringing a brilliant dawn upon the valley, and awakening it to life. The crystal in the walls sung as the heat woke it, and the two of them just sat there. It was a good beginning to what was poised to be a rough day. The adrenaline of the life threatening climb had still not yet worn off as they both stood in silence.

Timbal turned to Tra’an and spoke, “Today is the day of my Aedile selection. I think you’ve done well in your first task, and have faith that you will continue to do so in the tasks that I will lay on your shoulders in the future. Welcome to the summit, my Aedile.” Tra’an had not realized that they had actually climbed the highest part of the valley, a mountain in its own right, leaving most of the continent spread out before them. It truly was an auspicious way to begin.

Greetings fellows of HAD. I have served you for three months now as Roll Master, and have gotten to know many of you better. I hope to do so even more in the upcoming days as I pick your brains about our great house and what you would like to see from it in the coming months. For those of you whom I haven’t had the chance to spend time with, here’s a little about myself.

I was apprenticed to Lucien before he became PCON, and achieved DJK in May. I was appointed roll Master a few days before my Ascension. I have worked hard to help integrate new members into the house, and have been granted one of these, Rex Brannigan, as my apprentice. I worked hard to help coordinate the Run On effort during the recent feud, and look forward to planning competitions that I believe you all will enjoy. I am a senior in College and will be around on MIRC for at least two hours a day Wednesday through Monday.

If you need me, any email with URGENT in the title will receive a turnaround time of twelve hours or less. Anything else will file in the Queue for turnaround within twenty four hours. I am an avid reader of Science Fiction and Fantasy, and greatly enjoy much of the SW fiction between 4ABY and 20 ABY. I have some exciting competitions planned for the upcoming months which I should hope that you will find relaxing and enjoyable, as well as easy to compete in.
