Dark Siders,

Our new leadership team has been cemented. I am hoping that this team will remain in positions of power and support through the upcoming "Unification, the Ninth Great Jedi War" - our obvious, next big campaign against the members of the Brotherhood. Most recently, we made some additions to this team with the reemergence of Julius leading the Battle Team in Satal Keto and the appointment of Cethgus in the Exar Kun Battle Team. Great work, guys!

Clan News

Consul vacation is over. Though it was massively expensive on my budget, I think it will do my sanity good. Especially once Winter sets in and I need some form of hope to get me through the holiday shopping period :-p As it is... I am back to oversee the Clan... and do more work.

Clan Prospectus. I have released the first half of our redrafted material. For those of you who know what a Prospectus is and serves as, be patient with me while I indulge those whom are not. A Prospectus is meant to serve as the beginning point for our clan's in-character information. It is a place where you can find how our clan is ran, details of our home star system, social elements and much, much more that I include. You should utilize this any time you go to write a fiction or participate in a run-on. And be sure to check out the new stuff!

Jedi Academy. There are several dominant games in the Brotherhood, but few match up to the intensity and awe-inspiring platform of the Jedi Knight series. To help establish a greater rapport and ability before the forthcoming Great Jedi War, Cethgus and Koga have volunteered to host a Star Wars: Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy practical course.

Why join the course? So you can help further our clan's participation rate, learn the fundamentals (and then advanced) skills of the game, be all that you can be in "Jedi Academy" during Gaming Nights, ICTE and the Great Jedi War.

How do I join? E-mail both Koga ([Log in to view e-mail addresses]) and Cethgus ([Log in to view e-mail addresses]) to let them know you want to be there for the first course on Sunday the 26th!

Brotherhood News

Seneschal Updates: Grand Master Jac Cotelin has been hard at work to ensure the site's security. He has made many posts concerning many scripts: recommendation, new members, reports, etc. Be sure to thank him for his many sleepless nights.

Justicar Updates: Dark Jedi Master Kir Katarn has released his selections for the new Appeals Panel. As it states, these individuals will oversee the appeals panel of the Dark Brotherhood legal process. They, like the Justicar and his Hands of Justice, are an important part of making sure our club is living and breathing the Dark Covenant and protecting our member's rights.

Master At Arms Update: Dark Jedi Master Syn Kaek has released a new Brotherhood-wide standard for elevations from the rank of Apprentice to Dark Jedi Knight. The document is a blending from all the Clan's individual promotion guidelines in an effort to provide stability and integrity for advancing individuals in the Journeymen Class. Be sure to read up, young ones!

Clan Naga Sadow: Despite being a rival Clan, it is with great honor that we acknowledge two of Sadow's own in their long-standing achievements and dedication to their Clan and, thus, the Brotherhood. Newly named Sadows, Ashia and Tsainetomo, will now go forth and be seen by all as Champions of their Clan.

Tribune: Wiki Report: Krath Pontifex RevengeX Palpatine has released a new report concerning all that we love in the Wiki. One such kernel of wisdom he has produced was, "Do not leave red links (to nothing). For red is the color of blood. If the links are red, the Wiki is bleeding. And we do not want to hurt the Wiki." The Message

The Art of a Niche. A place or position suitable or appropriate for a person.

Finding one's niche is often interpreted as playing to one's strengths. Not only recognizing, but using their innate talents so that they naturally succeed - either in their personal lives or their business place. When you do what you naturally are good at, not only will you succeed, but it will create an illusion that it is not even work at all. You no longer have to grind through the day.

Another old saying is to "play the cards life has dealt you." In contrast to "finding your niche" it means that you take stock of what is available to you and do the best you can with what you have. Often we curse our fates in this manner, claiming that if only we had been given just one better card we could have succeeded in a wholly different manner.

The Brotherhood is a blend of each of these. We have all been given the same cards - we are members of the Brotherhood. And, like life, we often do not know how to play them. But we are not limited to a simple five or six cards, folks. We are granted infinite possibilities to demonstrate our unique, individual value and sincerity to the growth of our self, House, Clan and Brotherhood. But how do we do find our path? Another astute question, as many of us spend our entire lives trying to find our given path.

Allow me to take this time to be your wise Sage. Your guiding hand in the Brotherhood. I believe that there is a given number of actual disciplines in the Brotherhood. And I also believe that if you choose just one of these and spend time excelling at it... the rest will come. Allow me to explain...

The Disciplines. I believe that our club, at its most basic elements, can be broken into the most basic tenants: communication, writing, gaming. Deriving from that, one could say the most original niches would be the Antei Combat Center (combat-writing), Moderator (Message Board Forums & IRC Operator), Gamer and Writer. If you elect to pursue one of these with all of your effort, understanding every nuance and how it ties into our club... then I promise you will succeed.

It is when you demonstrate an uncanny talent in one field, that you often draw attention from many others. It is one's success and their continual activity (keyword: activity) that draws the notice of the Dark Council and allows the Master At Arms to confer awards and promotions upon people. It is the activity, and excellence, of an individual that allows for the Grand Master to entrust you with a position upon the Dark Summit. It is the activity, and ability, of a member can earn them a position within the Antei Combat Center under the watchful gaze of the Combat Master.

The moral of the story? Do not search for leadership positions; they are given based on your natural ability. Do not search for projects; the are entrusted to you for your skill and successes. Do not search for advancement; it is the reward given for your continual activity. Instead, decide upon one thing that you can do well... and enjoy doing... then attack it for all you are worth at every available opportunity.

THE FIN

Kal and Aalos have been entrusted with a project to rework the material of the planet Aerun. With the Yuuzhan Vong Invasion raping the planet, they presented me a proposal to rewrite the original work and I accepted their generous offer. I look forward to seeing what they will be presenting based on their dedication to this club and clan.

Quejo, our new Clan Roll Master, is redrafting the weekly mentorship e-mails we utilize to stimulate advancement in our initial ranks. He is inserting the new promotion standards set forth by the Master At Arms. I look forward to seeing his rough drafts and his first, of many, reports for our Clan.

The Quaestors recently were given the assignment of helping with the Clan Prospectus. Both Jonaleth and Alaris issued great pieces of fictional development material that will further define the legacy of House Satal Keto and House Exar Kun. I look forward to seeing their additional developments as our Clan continues to work forward.

Remember, if you need help finding that one discipline. That one thing that will help you define your Brotherhood ability and future... I am available to help you. In the past, I have set several members on paths that have not only led to a rewarding experience in the DB, but high level promotions and awards.
