House Dinaari Quaestor Report #28 - November 2, 2008

Greetings all,

<p>It's been a fairly busy week for all as we enter into the month of November. The Clan Summit has been busy hammering out stuff for our Clan holiday, Domination Day which falls on November 5th (Wednesday). All members of the Clan are invited to login to their Tal.net accounts and vote for the 2008 Tally Awards. If you don't have an account at Tal.net you should head over there right now and sign-up (then vote). The Award winners will be announced on the 5th as well the recipients of the Clan Awards. Finally, the newest member of the Sons & Daughters of Taldryan should be announced as well. It's a big day ... for our newer members take note - one day your name could be on this list of awards.

<p>Other than that I, of course, have to remind you that the next Great Jedi War will be starting in January 2009 sometime. For those of you who don't know Clan Taldryan has never lost one of these things. Never. The other Clans are having delusions of grandeur of their chances of victory, but to be fair this will probably be the most difficult fight Taldryan has ever waged to retain our title of First Clan of the Brotherhood. After Thanksgiving you will be receiving a lot of information on how to maximize our chances of winning and how you can contribute a lot to our efforts without much work at all. Keep in mind that if you want to make a name for yourself in this Clan, there is no better way to do it than doing great in a Vendetta. Keep an eye on your e-mail inbox after Thanksgiving break.

<p>There's not much DJB-wide news to report ... Muz released a Deputy Grand Master (DGM) that revealed a fair amount of information about upcoming projects (i.e. the new Character Sheets). Apparently he's gotten hitched as well so well done to him I guess? Whatever. The Wiki Tribune (whoever it is) also posted some hints and crap on how you should use the DJBWiki.

<p>To wrap things up, be sure to participate in as many competitions as possible - this especially applies to our Journeymen who are trying to rank up to the prestigious rank of Dark Jedi Knight. Competition participation is required to be promoted up through the Journeymen ranks so be sure to get involved. Our Aedile, Tarax, is running a competition that rewards gamers who play the (sort of) popular RTS game Empire at War (EaW). The Fiction Tribune (Raken) always has a fiction comp or two running each month and of course you can always game in the weekly Gaming Nights (#dbgaming on IRC) or participate in the Antei Combat Centre (ACC). If you need help getting started on being active just let me know and I'll help give you a push.

<p>Also, merit medals have been given to the following members for their steady activity over the past three months. Be sure to get your activity up as the next batch will be awarded just before the GJW begins (assuming people qualify for a medal).

<p>Duga and Baron were awarded a Dark Cross each while Pole (Tarax) was given a rare Anteian Cross. There will probably be more leading up to the GJW assuming a few individuals put a little more effort into their activity.

<p>Not much more to say that I haven't already - get on IRC, do some gaming (especially EaW), and just do something. The Great Jedi War will last between four to six weeks and will span almost all types of activity found in the DJB: gaming, fiction, role-playing, ACC, run-ons, and others. We'll need all the help we can get to retain our title of 1st Clan so be sure you'll be around. If you want leadership in this Clan, doing awesome in the GJW will help get you what you want.
