Clan Scholae Palatinae,

_ Lucien the Fearless assumed his position in the Royal Palace, comfortably sitting on the Imperial throne. For the last two years, Lucien had been in an endless quest to dethrone Phoenix the Ruthless. Finally, when the Emperor was away, Lucien made his move. There was no one who contested him. The transition was smooth and unpredictably without blood. As the Senate trickled into the Throne Room, Lucien began his vote for the next Proconsul of Scholae Palatinae. As Emperor, Lucien needed someone he could trust, someone he could rely upon, someone who would do his bidding. Thran Occasus had none of those qualities.

The votes trickled in. Who would be the leader of the Clans military forces? Who would be the Consuls liaison to the Clan? Even as the ballot box filled, everyone in the room knew who would win the position. Dakari Kaeth, Consul Emeritus, smiled as his ballot fell into the ornate box. Dakari knew who would take the position; The same man who took the Quaestorship of House Dorimad Sol from him. Everyone knew.

Thran nodded to Dakari from across the room. The Bakuran could not bother to join the Senate on the floor, he expected that his vote would not be of any consequence. Instead, he watched the Emperor intently. The votes were tallied by a horde of clerks and quickly returned to Lucien.

Thran Occasus, please step forward. Spoke the Emperor.

Thran yawned and walked leisurely down the aisle to meet the Emperor.

You have been nominated by the Senate of Scholae Palatinae to assume the Role of Grand Marshal and Proconsul. Do you accept the nomination of the Senate? Lucien asked, going through the obligatory pomp of such an event.

Thran looked over the crowd. There were many faces he recognized. The room fell silent.

Yes. He said.

The crowd expected some great oration of his personal triumphs within the Houses of Clan Scholae Palatinae, epic dogfights, and construction of a building fit enough for the Gods to inhabit. Instead, it was with great humility that he accepted the bid. Though the answer was modest, a smug smile said everything he hadnt quite put into words.

The pomp continued. The ceremony of oaths lasted for hours until the room finally cleared. There kneeled be Thran, before the Emperor. Thran spoke.

I am honored, Lucien. Under your reign, we can restore the might of the Empire. I am proud to call myself the Emperors Hand. I shall not fail you, milord. His words were silver coated.

Lucien believed him. Rise, my old friend. You are a Steward of this Clan, you serve it with distinction and you will continue to do so. I imagine your boys in the Corps will be throwing a party tonightGo, have tonight, because tomorrow you hit the paperwork.

The Proconsul, Knight Errant of Scholae Palatinae, smiled and gave the slightest of bows. He knew with full certainty, there was only one man between him and the Throne now. His real intent was obscured by his false sincerity. As Thran turned away, Lucien realized the truth. The Emperor knew he must never turn his back on his Proconsul; If given the opportunity, he would be the one to stick the knife in.

Let us hope that he doesnt prove to be too ambitious Lucien muttered to himself

Props this week go out to me (Original, I know :P). Ive been appointed PCON, and I already feel the impact of the position. Im giving myself on being so eager to do my new job. This step into the Clan Summit has been a personal goal of mine for some time and now Im here! Also, props to Phoenix for making it out of his Consul job alive! That position has driven many people to the brink of insanity!
