State of the Proconsul

Due to various circumstances, Dranik will be stepping down as Proconsul. He was going to e-mail the clan himself, but he has been sick the past several days, which hasn’t helped him any. He may still choose to e-mail the letter he intended to write.

At this time, I have not selected a replacement, though I do have a couple candidates in mind. I’ve already talked with Sarin and Muz about these two prospective proconsuls, as well as a Tarentae or two, but I haven’t made up my mind, yet. More on this to come when it happens.

Competitions and Awards

All the houses have wrapped up their respective competitions, though Tridens is still working on its run-on. Awards will be submitted for various competition and event winners tonight (at least those that I am submitting on behalf of others).

We have begun planning a decent sized clan competition, and there will definitely be some smaller ones for the clan during the Christmas break time.

Clan Mailing List

I recently went through and cleaned up the clan mailing list. This meant roster searching every e-mail address I didn’t recognize. Though I don’t think I cut anyone who didn’t need to be cut, I might have. So, double check, and drop me a line if you were accidentally cut off the mailing list.

I have double sent this to both the Google group (clan mailing list) and the clan roster list. I won’t be doing this much longer.

Problem Members and Member Problems

Alright, to be quite frank, we recently had a new member who didn’t seem to get along with others, especially on IRC, but also in some run-ons. Well, while this member had their faults (and also had a legitimate condition), there were plenty of others who made things worse. They baited and berated that member, hoping to get the exact response they got. And, to be clear, I’ve seen the logs, so those members who did the baiting need not deny it. They’re just as guilty as the member they baited and who chose to respond how he did.

Here’s the deal: give everyone a fair chance. If they’re willing to learn and can take a joke, then they’re probably alright, even if they have certain problems that may or may not be overcome. Now, if they constantly start the trouble (without baiting!) and can’t take a joke, then they probably need to find another home, if not a whole other activity.

Tarentum does not have an exclusivity clause. Yes, we want the best gamers and writers the DB has to offer, but I know, as should you, that we have people of a wide range of talents. Some suck at writing, but are top notch gamers, and vice versa.

All that being said, members who constantly cause trouble for others will be dealt with as I deem necessary. Just for the record, I have kicked members out of this clan before, and I will do it again if I have to. This applies to everyone from the newest member up to the senior most member of the clan, whether they are a Tarentae or not.

New Computer

Yeah, I finally bought myself a new computer. The current one is plenty old and I’ve pushed it to its max. So, the next several days (around my work schedule) will be transferring items to the new computer, and getting the new computer optimized the way I want it. So, if there is a break in communication from me, that is why. Though, in all honesty, it shouldn’t be that bad, at least not the basic stuff like internet set up. However, getting all the documents (including all my DB stuff) transferred will probably take some time.
