Clan Plagueis,

Our Clan will be driven not only by our members whom find success, but by those whom are willing to sacrifice time and energy to ensure our clan fully participates. Participation points, while not as lucrative as a Top Ten finish, can make or break an overall campaign. It is the difference between being Fourth Clan and securing Second Clan.

To ensure we are getting those participation points, though, we must ensure that our submissions are being counted. And that means slowing down the process and making sure we are in compliance with the requirements set forth by those running the Great Jedi War. Our documents must be submitted in the proper format, adhere to font and size directions and meet the other requirements - whatever they may be - to receive credit.

Best Practices

  1. Competition Title vs. Story Title - Every entry should list the competition title, but that is NOT the title of your story. Your story is individual and unique... thus, it must have its own, unique title. Take the extra effort, place a label on your work.

  2. Identify the Author - You should sign your work at the beginning. Whenever you pick up a book, you already know the author before you open the first page. Let the grader identify with you. If they know you area Jedi Hunter from Plagueis, they will be prepared to see a story from Plagueis' perspective.

Now... lets combine these practices:

"Ninth Great Jedi War: <competition name>"

A Tale by Braecen Kaeth (4520)

"The Reckoning"

  1. Competitions Specifics - Be sure to read the topic. This will give you a direction for your story. It also gives you a place to start your research. And you should use the good 'ol Wookiepeedia and DB Wiki to ensure that your story is in line with the Brotherhood plot-line and is factual in the Star Wars Expanded Universe. Failure to create a realistic, plausible story will result in a docking of points.

  2. Save As - Yes, content matters, formatting matters, specifics and attention to detail matter... however, if you do not submit the document properly, you will not receive credit. Your file should include the competition name, your name, your pin and, preferably, your clan.

If I (me) were submitting to a competition called "The Reckoning" my file name would be:

"TheReckoning4520BraecenPlagueisApp.doc"

  1. E-mail - It is not who you know, but who you carbon-copy! Every submission should be sent to the graders - per their directions - and you should be sure to include the Clan Activity Tracker. Simply 'copy to' the account: [Log in to view e-mail addresses]

Conclusion

As always, if you have any questions, comments or concerns... please come to me. You have an entire Leadership Team at your disposal to help you through this. Lean on us!
