Headmaster Report #29

"Well, looks like they're calling us in to fix another problem," Apollo said to his former apprentice.

"You were expecting them to send us to a party?" Scion said jokingly in response.

Apollo entered his TIE Defender and Scion entered Apollo's escort shuttle with the small garrison of battle droids they had gotten approval to take with them, with Scion as the pilot of course. With Scion ready in the cockpit , the two of them started their engines, flew out of the hangar of the Sword's Sheath, out of the asteroid field and into hyperspace. It was a long, silent trip until they broke out of hyperspace and entered Lyspair's atmosphere.

"Target in sight. Let's land a couple of kilometers away from the Shadow Academy so we don't disturb our supposed guests," Apollo said.

Closer to the Academy, Headmaster Dupar and Praetor Aybara looked up as several Dark Jedi and a small squadron and battle droids prepared to enter the Academy. They exchanged a quick glance before heading to join them. Aabsdu, for one, preferred not to get his hands too dirty, but wanted to supervise. It was already obvious they would have to rebuild the Academy, it would be pointless to cause further damage.

As Apollo and Scion closed in on their target, they started walking carefully and slowly; they knew to expect anything from the Vong. They stepped inside, ready to activate their lightsabers at a moment's notice. They noticed the Headmaster following, but said nothing, focused on the task at hand.

"I do not want to be the one to clean this mess." Scion had said to Apollo.

As the two reached a door, they saw three Yuuzhan Vong Warriors inside, though they appeared sick and weakened.. Scion lit his crimson blade and ran at two Vong towards the right. Apollo jumped in the air and landed on the third beast, pinning it face first into the floor. He lit his purple blade as he swung, decapitating his helpless foe. He turned to see that Scion had killed one of the creatures, only to have received a long gash on his left thigh. Apollo curled his fingers, feeling the dark energies within himself growing. He focused this energy in his closed palm before extending his arm in the last Vong's direction, sending a bolt of energy towards his foe. This caused the the creature to become disoriented which led to Scion finishing it off with a vertical slash, his blade stopping half way through the dead creature's skull.

The light left the room as the two of them shut off their weapons. They returned to the hallway to see the Headmaster and his Praetor standing over the bodies of four more Vong, two of which were charred horribly. Aabsdu looked up to them, "The Dark Council has sent a crew to cleanse the area, but thanks for the assistance. I'll be sure to mention you in my report," and then he continued forward, battle droids following.

Returning to their ships, Scion pulled out the medical supplies he would need to help him with his wounds. Then he and Apollo started their engines, flew of of the atmosphere, and entered hyperspace.

News

--I haven't released a report for a long time, mainly because no one else was, but as it painstakingly obvious to us all, it's a slow period in the DB right now. I started back to school this month, so that is taking up a lot of time, but things are still moving forward. For instance, we filled all of the Professor positions a few weeks back, I just didn't have a report to announce it. So, if you didn't know, congrats to Ood Bnar, Vai Azevel, Nekura Manji, Daniel Stephens, and Malidir for gaining the Professor positions. Meanwhile, former-Headmaster Natth has been placed as an Assistant Professor.

--If you haven't yet noticed, the Shadow Academy is no longer organized into four campuses, but rather Department Halls. As the left sidebar on the site shows, or Wiki articles, there is the Docent Hall followed by all the course Departments. I've also gone through every individual piece of course notes, exam, and image code and removed the campus directs in the names. That was... a lot of work. Finally, for whatever reason (old backups mostly, I'm working on that), when we converted the site to PHP, old versions of course notes were used. Like, versions from before images were invented. As such, most of our courses except the newer ones lost their images. I have now gone through and re-added as many images I could find, but will be working with our new Professors to make sure the Academy is image-fresh.

--Speaking of Wiki articles, all SA-related articles have been updated for all the changes that have taken place. New Professor/Docent articles are up, and the EP article is placed in storage. The main Shadow Academy article also received a major overhaul, which it needed.

--A while ago we took down Poetry Studies so we could update it with notes from both the courses that we use to offer. While, Poetry Studies, new and improved, and now available once again in the Docent Halls.

Projects

--Yeah, projects. Well there's Combat Tactics I and II, which we're finishing up compiling, and will release soon. That will be followed up by a Combat Maven, and we recently realized we're ready to release our first Programming degree, a Maven, so keep on the lookup for that. There's also a new Wiki course, another clan history course, among others. I'm also trying to get some, I feel, cool coding changes made that will smooth things along, but that's added to Orv's galactic-size list of projects, so you know.
