Headmaster Report #32
The Headmaster's Chamber
The shock wave of the explosion shook the west wing of the Academy, including the office of the Headmaster. Aabsdu, seated behind his desk, looked left to his Praetor Taigikori, who had already jumped to his feet, lightsaber ignited. The Headmaster stood, lightsabers in hand, and they entered the hallway, passing several maintenance droids still working on finishing the newly rebuilt Academy. They stopped at a crossroads in the hallways.
Taig glanced down at his communicator, "It appears the blast came from the conference room, but no meeting is scheduled for today."
Aabsdu was unfazed, staring ahead, trying to see what he knew must be there, "I sense great death."
Suddenly from behind them, the Masked Man jumped from beneath a force cloak, stabbing his green lightsaber towards the Headmaster's throat. Taigikori spun around, slicing just in time to parry the blow from decapitating his master, whose own silver blades had ignited and swung into stance. The assassin took no time attacking again, slicing forward towards Taig as Aabsdu swung around him and prepared to strike. With amazing speed, the Masked Man rotated just in time to block the Headmaster's sabers, at the same time reaching out with his hand and sending Taigikori flying backwards into the wall.
Aabsdu and the Masked Man fought back and forth down the hallway, feeding upon the Dark Side energy of each other and the surrounding Academy. The hallway started to grow cold and dark, the lights popping out so that only the silver and green could be seen, flashing back and forth at each other. Behind them, the red blade of Taigikori reactivated and raced towards them, and for several seconds the Masked Man successfully defended himself against all three attacking lightsabers. His element of surprise had been destroyed, however, and as he blocked a stab from Taigikori, Aabsdu sliced cleanly through his blade hand.
As the Masked Man stumbled backwards, the Headmaster gripped his lightsaber in the Force, squeezing it until it crumpled, crushing the crystal within. Seeing his plan unravelling around him, the attacked reached out with his remaining hand and sent a small burst of lightning shooting towards Aabsdu. Taigikori force leapt in front of the barrage, blocking the onslaught with his own saber as his Master again reached out with the Force and grabbed the Masked Man in an iron grip, lifting him into the air.
"Speak," the Headmaster said evenly.
Coughing, the Masked Man spit out, "This Academy will fall, just like the rest of your heretic Brotherhood. None will..."
And with a twist of his wrist, Aabsdu cut off his sentence, forcibly ripping the air from his lungs before flinging him against a far wall. The lights returned to the corridor as their deactivated their sabers. Beside the Headmaster, Taigikori turned, "What do you think?"
For a moment, the Dark Adept Headmaster pondered, "I think it is... unfortunate."

News
--I'm not the biggest into poetry, but if you are then we've got the job for you. Poetry Studies is currently looking for a Docent to grade exams. Requirements for Docent are a rank of Guardian or higher, 72 hour email turnaround, and having passed Poetry Studies in the past with at least a 90%. Put together applications, including your ideas and thoughts on the current state of the course, and send them to myself and Taigikori by October 27th.
--The Coding Studies Department is also looking for its first Professor. Requirements for this position are a rank of Dark Jedi Knight or higher, 72 hour email turnaround, and having passed all courses in the department with at least a 90%. In this case, the department currently only holds HTML Basics and Advanced, but that is going to change in the future to have more PHP, MySQL, XHTML, plus a whole bunch of other stuff. As such, you should have basic coding knowledge of as many formats as possible. These applications are also due by October 27th.

Projects
--Projects are slow coming, just because the DB is in a lull right now, and I am also very sick, but things are still being done, especially when it comes to revamps to department courses. I hope to release some of those changes in the coming weeks, because they are very nice. Also, DB History and DB Basics 2.0 made some major progress this past week, so those may see the light of day sooner than later. A writing course, another clan history course, plus that long-promised Combat Tactics course and degree are also on the top of our pile. All in due time. We will most likely release one, maybe two new courses before the RoS starts up in January.
