[1830 Hours, The Sword's Sheath, Quaestor's Office]

Scion leaned back in his chair, his feet up on his desk. His flask of scotch sloshed quietly in his jacket pocket as he rocked back and forth. In his hands were half a dozen data pads outlining duty rosters, supply inventories, and the last several weeks' worth of training reports for the Tarenti aboard the Sword's Sheath.

The old soldier smiled, seeing that his Apprentice was nearing the completion of his training. It had been a long road, but a good one. The Trandoshan had started off knowing nothing about the ways of the Galaxy. He had been seething with uncontrolled rage at the murder of his family but lacked the tools required to turn that raw energy into real power. Now, he had started working on building a lightsaber; a weapon that is almost the very definition of real power. Energy harnessed, controlled and focused.

Shuffling through the stack of 'pads some more, he glanced at his inbox. Several medal requests were in there, and all the appropriate records had already been updated. Apparently, Severon had taken to his new role quickly. Scion double checked the Rollmaster's work, but found it to be correct. Again, a smile stole across the old man's face. Getting some of this paperwork out of the way could definitely free up some time.

Yawning, he set the data pads on his desk and lowered his feet to the floor. He stood and stretched, then carefully adjusted his uniform before heading out into the hallway.

As we move into November, we find that we are in a time of great change here in Tarentum. Anshar has stepped down as Consul due to pressures in real life. He has been an excellent mentor and role model for many of us in the Clan, and I expect he will continue to be so in the future. Oberst has taken his place as Consul, and Ronovi, the Quaestor of House Cestus has replaced him as Proconsul. Oberst and Ronovi have been working together to develop the Clan's fiction. They are both superb writers (some of the best the Dark Brotherhood has to offer, in my opinion) and I look forward to working with them going forward.

You have all heard by now that Severon Vercingetorix has taken Dralin's place as Rollmaster. He has lots of youthful energy and exuberance, which should be an excellent counterpart to Apollo's and my own ponderous and contemplative leadership styles. So far he has done an excellent job. I definitely look forward to having my own pile of paperwork diminished now that I'm settling into my new job in real life. It should give me plenty of time to work on the House fiction and run some competitions to get us ready for January.

Why January, you ask? Because we have a major event coming up in January! For those of you that were here for the last Great Jedi War, it's almost that big of a deal. For those of you who weren't here for that, I'll just say that the GJW is the biggest event that the Dark Brotherhood does. This January event will be almost that big. It's called a Rite of Supremacy, and it's kind of a big deal.

Competitions: Got an idea for a competition? Anybody can run one, and anybody can suggest ideas. Just run it past me and we'll make it happen.

Apprentices: All you have to do for your promotion to Novice is... anything. Get on the IRC channel, participate in a competition, register for the forums, or just about anything else. If you have questions or if you have already done one of these things and nobody noticed, send me a quick email and let me know.
