-Writing makes up one of the pillars of the Brotherhood's activity, but there is more to writing than simply having your character cut down a few foes with a lightsaber. Writing must tell a story, build suspense, develop characters, and, of course, allow evil to triumph in the end. Which brings us to the Shadow Academy's newest course: Writing Studies. Going through the basics of what makes a good story good, taking this course is sure to improve your writing and, in turn, standings in writing competitions. It is also good practice, especially if you one day plan to aim for the coveted Dark Sage: Writing. Links to this new course can be found in the Important Links section.

-Recently the SA Admin site that our staff uses to grade courses as well as keep things organized was hit with a series of major glitches. Not viruses, just glitches from the PHP conversion we recently went through. As such, give exams a day or so longer before you start asking whether it has been graded. This especially applies to the new Writing Studies. Hopefully things will be fixed within a few days.

-A few of you have pointed out that the Force Cults notes had several major spelling and factual mistakes in it. Thanks to those that not only mentioned this but also went about informing us of what exactly needed to be changed. I went through and implemented those changes, so everything should be good to go now. Also in the arena of changes, the requirements for the Dark Savant: Leadership and Communications degree has been changed from "six or more months as a BTL or higher" to "six or more months as AED or higher." Also, as mentioned before, you no longer have to send an email asking to remove old scores, just retake the exam, and make sure to send degree requests to both Taig and me, usually one of us is faster than the other.

-You may or may not have noticed this already, but to go along with the new SA structure of Departments and Halls instead of Campuses, the training tab on all dossiers has been reorganized to list things by department instead of alphabetically. This is useful both to us, when awarding degrees, and to you, for the simple fact of it being easier to find a course.

Projects

-Taig and I have been staying very busy lately both in the DB and in the world of real, but things are still coming along very nicely. There are several new courses close to completion, many of which have been discussed before: CSP History, DB History, as well as revamped Force Philosophies and General Leadership courses. Needless to say, the Shadow Academy is staying busy as we prepare for the coming Rite of Supremacy. Stay tuned...
