Hey all.
Yeah, my second report is here. Why, you ask? Because Events Have Been Eventuating, and I figured that instead of loudly shouting my opinion on IRC all the time, I might as well just throw them on the mailing list and be done with it. :P
Events AND, what Tim did this week:
Well, it's been a mostly quiet time. Stuff to add:
-Our DJB welcome email has not been edited. Orv has not answered my emails. The rest of the DC is pussyfooting around the issue of Can Celahir Have Coding Access Pretty Please? because they don't really know what he's doing and are afraid our bloody conquest of the other Clans will start with erasing their Dossiers. Hence, I can only assume that the Curse of the Coders has struck the Brotherhood once again. A career tip for all you young kids: Get a book and teach yourself how to code. Seriously. It's the best DJB career move you'll ever make. I would totally do this myself, but I'm aware of the fact that Sarin carries around a net to catch anyone with coding knowledge so he can drag them away into the Dark Hall, where they'll spend the rest of their lives in miserable toil.
-I wrote a brief description of Clan Arcona, at Dashles' request, and sent it to the Grand Master and Deputy Grand Master. It's supposed to be used for something official or something, and so far no one seems to have a clue why. I'd ask the DC for a clue, but they seem to be in enough need of that themselves so I won't bother. I'm sure, however, that me writing our official description totally puts all of you completely at ease. The future of Arcona is safe with me. :P
-I sent regular welcoming emails, but there seems to be some weird stuff going on in the email chain that makes things look weird. I'll have it sorted out ASAP.
-I sent reminder emails. Well, no I didn't. But I totally will once I post this report. Promise.
-I posted in my ACC match. Not only that, but so did others in the Clan, finishing most of our matches. I would love to tell you the resultsâ¦and fortunately, I can! It seems that someone in the ACC office has decided that 'one match judged every three days' is really not a proper pace of judging, and they are taking important steps to quicken things up. Therefore Manji has taken the heroic initiative of increasing the speed of judging to almost one every two days, while Erin has likewise decided to post-hoc declare finished matches unreceivable. Why not declare them Timeouts earlier? Surely it can't be rumors of computer trouble plaguing the Combat Master. After all, Wally broke his nose and that was no excuse. Erin's also forgotten to apply some of her rules. Hilariously, it now seems to be the case that absolutely no one understands how the ACC rules are supposed to work. I'd cry, but somethow laughter comes easier.
Anyway, as a result of this commendable initiative of speedy judging, we now have results! -Wally and Driftan earned a respectable 1-1 each in their matches, but sadly also failed to move on to the finals. -Sang Timed Out in his match in the Equite Ladder. I would call him a little bitch, but he's sadly just left his QUA position, so now I can't swear at him. The little bitch. We wish him a speedy recovery and reactivation as Quaestor because face it: Who can stand Cethgus being Quaestor? :P -Dash just beat some dude called Aegis that I never heard of. -Juda lost his match against Sidarace... which means Dash will now most likely be facing that guy in the next round, for great justice! Also revenge. -I beat Alaris by Timeout. Yawn. :(
-I posted in the RO, once! I might even do it again! :o More on this in a bit.
-Halcyon is Voice of the Brotherhood. I know, everyone's expecting me to complain loudly. I won't. In fact, I haven't been so giddy in ages because A) I totally called it and B) Between him, Sarin, and Muz, all they need is Raken and they'll have gathered the team of geniuses who created our current CSes. You know, the ones that have gone through two revisions to make them at least slightly workable (no thanks to the aforementioned people), and are going to be revised again according to Erinyes' reports. At least this way, when the RPG system will prove to be broken as all hell, the DC will have no one to blame but themselves.
-Dante is Right Hand of Justice. I'm in two minds of this. On the one hand, Dante's always struck me as somewhat stupid. On the other, I recall that he does have legal training of a sort. Also, given how strongly our justice system is weighed towards the prosecution, having an incompetent RHoJ is probably not going to make any difference whatsoever.
Stuff! OR where Tim pimps everything except your mom:
-The Wiki team! Sadly, Arcona's Wiki stuff has mostly just been in the hands of individual editors, changing stuff whenever they felt it applied to them/their Houses etc. That, sadly, has led to many articles being incomplete, out of date, or simply not up there in terms of quality. Our Wiki, however, is part of our advertising to the rest of the Brotherhood. It's something that says 'Hey! We're awesome! Come join us!' better than just about anything else. Speaking from personal experience: The Entar Family Wiki article got us a lot of attention (admittedly, that was because we were bastards and bumped it to featured within the hour of its creation).
But, to continue matters: We need more Wiki activity. And believe it or not, we do have a guy assigned to explicitly working on that. Etah Idanian has been working tirelessly on editing stuff and changing things to match the current situation. However, he's just one guy in the end, and the list of to-do articles is huge. And so, it's time to start getting some volunteers for the team.
What do we need? Everyone. Writers, editors, and especially artists. If you can draw, we need you. If you can't draw, we still need you for another job. If you want in, throw an email to Etah, and I'm sure he'll contact you ASAP with the stuff that needs doing. Also check out his report for more details.
-The Runon! This one is ran by my very own BTL and all around awesome guy, Marick! It's going pretty well, but I figured it deserved a shout-out so that certain someones (Legorii, I'm looking in your general direction. I'd look at you, but your mom's in the way) would also post.
tl;dr Fuck you. Go back to the top. Start with the first sentence, then proceed. Reading is not hard.
Today's xkcd: Why did I pick this one? Because I could. xkcd.
Conclusion OR more rambling:
Well, that was basically it. Not a very long report, for sure, but I figured they can't all be winners. Have a nice week, and I'll try to report again when something interesting happens!
