Report #5 - July 18, 2010 <-
Not a lot of new things to report on this week, but thought I would just give everyone a little update on what's been happening in and around the Office of the Voice.

The overall Wiki Audit is moving ahead at a good clip. My Magistrate has been looking at character pages, and some of you may have already noticed a few tags being added to certain pages that are deemed questionable. I'm sure you will be seeing a lot more of these popping up in the coming weeks. I have also completed two Clan audits (Arcona and Tarentum), with not a whole lot to point out. A few little things here and there, and everything we discussed has been fixed, or is in the process of getting fixed. I hope my interactions with the others Clans go just as well.
A little comment on the Character Pages, and a large issue that I am finding. A lot of people really try to build their character up prior to their joining the DB and becoming a dark jedi. In most cases, this does not make a lot of sense. How can your character be so talente/skilled/awesome and yet still only be a Journeyman or low-to-mid level Equite? I do understand the need for people to want their characters to be very interesting, but there are better ways to do it. The best way? Be active in the DB itself. A good rule of thumb is that your life before the DB should not be more interesting than your life while in the DB. If it is, then you probably need to do some editing

A couple of competitions have opened up for those who signed up for them. The first DB-Wide Run-On in quite some time is now off and running. For those interested, you can read it HERE. You can also find the various OOC conversations here. However, if you are not signed-up, please refrain from posting in either topic.
Just today I opened up the ACC 2v2 Ladder. You can find all details on the Ladder at the 2v2 Hall. Good luck to all the participants...any bets on who will win the whole thing? :P

Just a little ACC news. Something I had forgotten to mention in my last report was the rule change in how time-outs are now handled. Previously, if someone managed to get a post in after the deadline before they could be caught, the post then counted. That is no longer the case. All post limits are now "hard limits". Once you are over the limit, you have automatically lost the match. You can still ask for match extensions, but you have to ask for it before the deadline.
I would also just like to remind everyone of the Genesis Combine. Please have a look at the Hall itself for all of the specific rules, and how you get your match looked at for qualification purposes.

Competition Time! Below are the current competitions running. There is still half the month to go to get your submission in! High-level crescents to be given out, so jump in while you can!
Past Imperfect - It's the "present" day, but not quite. You are the same person, but your time as a Dark Jedi never happened. There is no Dark Brotherhood, at least to your knowledge, and you never seemed to find out that you had force powers. This is a story about life without the Dark Brotherhood, but also of regaining that life. What is your life now? Where did things change, and how do you get it all backâ¦or do you?
The Battleplan - Exactly as the title states...you are to design a battleplan based on the scenario that I have given you. Now is your chance to show off your tacticle skills
The Bounty - A call has gone out from the Master-at-Arms. There has been a wide range of dark jedi determined to have deserted the Dark Brotherhood, and this will not be tolerated. You have been assigned a bounty to bring back one of your Clan/House-mates that have been determined Away WithOut Leave. Detail your mission and what the ultimate outcome is
Design your Vendetta - Through the years of the Dark Brotherhood, there have been a number of interesting vendetta story lines, from civil wars to teaming up to fight Jedi and killing hordes of Killikss and Yuuzhan Vong. However, most of us never have a part in planning these stories, so your task is to pretend like you have a position of importance and create your own plan for a vendetta. Who is the enemy? What do they want? Why do you care? Who will win? Will there be twists? What kind of spoils would go to the victor?
Please click on the individual links for more details on the competitions, and where to send your submissions to. All 4 competitions will run until July 31. I would also like to re-iterate that I do look at your character sheets and wiki pages when I grade your submissions. That means being able to role-play your own characters is very important, so remember that when writing your fiction's!

I would just like to take a quick minute and thank both Celahir and Robin Hawk for creating a couple of graphics for me. Celahir created the banner that should appear once this report is posted, and Robin made me my new forum signature banner. I am always grateful for the hard work people put into making graphics for this club, as well as the coding done for this club. These skill-sets are very rare, and the work created can cost a pretty-penny in the real worled and should never be taken for granted.

And that is pretty much it for this report. Just want to take a moment and talk about the AWOL check that just passed. We now have a clearer idea of where we stand in terms of membership, and no matter where you are we all have issues with member retention. It is not confined to just one place, but is very much a DB-wide issues. Although there are a lot of discussions currently going on examining the direction we should move to, everyone should feel free to submit their own thoughts and ideas on both retention and recruitment. Yes, the DC and various leaders are working on things, but this club is for everyone. Throw your ideas out there. At worst, your idea isn't implemented. However, it could also be something that completely changes this club for the better. Don't be afraid to send that e-mail to us. We're all receptive to your ideas and thoughts, and each one is considered.
Report Lyrics:_ "See that girl on the street, what keeps her from dying"_

"Ordinary Day" - Great Big Sea
The song Is "One True Way" by Great Big Sea.
Oh no never mind I'm wrong. I thought that the lyrics to "Ordinary Day" were "She sings on the corner, what keeps her from dying." I'm not sure why I thought it was "One True Way", but I got to thinking and I know it isn't "One True Way" but I still think that the lyrics are off.
