_Taigikori stood, arms folded, staring out the large viewport of his main office at all the Shadow Academy students making their way across the courtyard. High up in his tower, they appeared no larger than insects, and that was precisely what they were. Not just physically, but in the Force. Due to the high volume of sentient beings constantly coming in and out of the dark academy on Antei's moon, Taigikori was use to the power radiating from its visitors. One could almost know immediately which of them would successfully make it into the Brotherhood's selection of newly rechristened houses, while others would be turned into meaningless staff, soldiers, or killed. Still, every now and then, he would sense that rare dark light that signaled a powerful user who, if used the right way, would reach greatness in the Force.
A beeping at the comm station nearby broke his thought. He watched the small blue hologram develop as he activated it. The young Dark Jedi, currently acting as an intern in the Academy, spoke quickly, no doubt afraid of upsetting the Headmaster, "Master Aybara, there is someone here to see you. He says it's urgent. A... Dacien Victae."
For a few seconds, Taigikori simply stared at the hologram, making sure to keep his face still as he thought of who that was. When the realization hit him, he could no longer keep the emotion from showing on his face.
"Send him in, immediately."
The hologram disappeared, and less than a minute later the door to his office opened to reveal the dark figure of Sith Warlord Dacien Victae. Taigikori turned, a slight smile on his face, "Bubba, it's been a while."
"Things have certainly changed around here while I was gone," the Warlord replied, looking around the furnishings of the office before adding, "... Headmaster."
Dacien had been Headmaster Aabsdu Dupar's first Praetor, but after his failed attempt at retrieving a holocron for the Shadow Academy, he had been dismissed from his position, taking solace in House Revan while continuing his search. Things certainly had changed since then, over two years ago. The Shadow Academy had returned to Lyspair, been rebuilt, reorganized, and a new Headmaster had taken office. The search for the holocron, however, had remained an active mission within the Headmaster's archives.
"What news brings you here," Taigikori asked, friendly, but suspicious.
Dacien stood a few feet away, still perusing the office, "Not the holocron, if that's what you were expecting. My reconnaissance has discovered something else, however. Something I feel you will find much more interesting than a small rock."
His eyebrows rose, his curiosity peaked, "Do tell, Bubba, do tell."_
Another month, another report. There hasn't been a lot of activity in the Academy in terms of the releasing of projects this year. That's all going to be fixed here in this report. August is historically a horrible month for the Shadow Academy. It's the month my college starts back up full time, and most of my staff as well. However, this isn't going to stop us from continuing to release new and exciting things...it just means I don't have to deal with Halc nearly as much. :P
News! Recently, the Department of Programming needed a new Professor. Orv immediately applied, and I knew right then I wouldn't get a better application. Orv and I have worked together on many things, going way back to our time in Arcona. Congratulations Orv on your appointment!
On the topic of appointments, I wanted to announce a new Magistrate on the staff. Quejo is a guy who I've known for years, someone who has a long, sometimes painful history within the Shadow Academy. None the less, I get along with him great in and out of the DB, and he's eager to be put to work. So, with that said, join me in welcoming Quejo back to the Headmaster's staff as Magistrate to the Headmaster.
With the recent downsize of Clans to Houses, I let Aabsdu decide what he wanted to do with his new Department. We both came to the conclusion that the renaming of "Clan Histories" would be beneficial. The Department is now known as the Department of Brotherhood History.
The "Character Histories" will soon be a thing of the past. I'm pushing to have these obsolete articles purged from the system. It'll be one less thing to clutter our dossiers. With the Wiki and Character Sheets, they're really rather pointless. They served an awesome purpose at one time, but that time has come and gone.
There comes a time when you get nostalgic, and want to look back on your House's days as a Clan. Long overdue, Scholae Palatinae History is now available in the Department of Brotherhood History. Congratulations on Scholae Palatinae taking the plunge and becoming the fourth unit with their own course. Now I just need to light a fire under Taldryan, Tarentum, and Revan's asses. I know Ronovi, I know, you're trying.
Not too long ago, Manji wrote DB History for us. Wanting something that captured some newer DB History without being 200 pages long, we came to Manji to write us yet another installment of the series. Now available in the Department of Brotherhood History; DB History 2 is ready to be delved into.
SA bugs, for the most part notification emails are fixed and ready to go. Recently the activation page for new members was broken, but I hear Arion is working on that, or he already fixed it. Right now the biggest problem is the exam submission page. It shows people as the course grader that haven't been on the SA staff for over a year. When in doubt, go to the "Academy Staff" page on the main SA page.
There's an awesome competition out right now for this month. Entitled The "Write Stuff, here's the specifics:
It's time for the DB membership to compete for the next Shadow Academy exam. Always wanted to have your topic discussed in the SA? Here's your chance. The Academy is looking for new ideas for exams, and we want YOU to write up an actual exam, in your own words. When choosing a topic for your exam, make sure it isn't already chosen. For example, don't try and write an exam about Lightsabers, when we offer several exams on the subject. Onto awards. I'll be awarding 1st level Crescents for the top three submissions. The winner (1st place) will have his/her exam hosted as an actual SA exam. Merit awards will also be given out for excellent submissions as I see fit. You have 30 days. Get all submissions in to [Log in to view e-mail addresses] before August 25th. Good luck!
Projects! I've got my entire staff working on something different. Solus is working on the new Recruitment Cards, Legorii is writing the Racies and Species exam, Aabs is off coding everything. I have a kickass staff, including Professor's and Docents. Without them, I'd be nowhere. I personally am writing countless exams and working on the Grind Path, along with a huge group of people, who are all like minded and want to get this thing out and released. It's very SA orientated, looks like I'll be leading a lot of journeymen when it's all said and done.
What can you expect in the next report? Another exam release, as well as a new degree.
Lots of stuff going on in the Brotherhood right now. I've personally been trying to get into some more gaming and fiction lately. I took some time and played some JO with Smoke, I'm ACCing in the 2v2, and even started up a Run-On strickly for Dark Council members, with the leadership of Halc. We're coming together nicely as a Council, I like the current group of people. The conversation in the DC channel has been hilarious lately, here's to it staying that way. Real life is awesome, I'll be heading out to Philly with the wife and baby to visit some family. So I'll be semi-LoA during that period. I'll try and get another report out by then. Until next time.

PS: I'm lowering the requirement for the Dark Maven - Leadership Degree, from Aedile, back down to Battleteam Leader.
Don't forget boozin with Fremoc :P
You played smoke in JO???? Wasn't it more like you "schooled" smoke in JO :P But seriously awesome report...oh did I mention Taig is just merely awesome! DC conversations for the win muahahaha
Great report Taig. The SA and the DB's lore is in good condition under you, and it's nice to see you progress the SA into today's DB.
hmm...it might just be the herb talking, but when I look at that banner I'm afraid the SA logo is gonna fly away :P
Nice work, Taig..... and when is Smoke not getting "smoked" in a gaming match? I don't count HALO... :)
Taig smells. He has big ears and his mother dresses him funny.
Srsly nowz: Lowering the Leadership Dark Maven may seem like a good choice in the short term...but you're effectively just lowering the overall standard in the long-term. Just my 2cents (With the exchange rate, that's like a billion USD.)
Back2Biznis: Kir is gay.
end transmission
Taig, just thought I might give you a heads up on some of the spelling, grammar and sentence structure of the HSP History course. :P
Otherwise, hooray for new courses.
