Odan-Urr Quaestor Report

                           =======================Introduction=======================

Jonuss entered the room, his tan and brown robes swaying with each step. His body ached and he felt weakened, but he knew that it was from the profound emptiness he now felt. He had left the Brotherhood nearly two years before and when he had returned, he had changed. His former brothers and fellow Sons did not see it as a positive and now he was labeled an outcast. Stripped of his title and his honor within the halls of Naga Sadow, Jonuss Rai did the only thing he could do: he entered the light, following the new path laid before him.

      He barely felt the presence of Odan-Urr’s Aedile as he stood in the doorway, poised to knock.  “Hello, Quejo.”  Jonuss said to the Jawa, informing him his knock would not be needed.  “What can I do for you?”

The Aedile bowed and informed him that the house was assembled in the central auditorium, awaiting his arrival. He spoke in his native language, politely pausing while Rai’s translation droid, mounted on his wrist, translated his words into basic. After the translation finished, Jonuss bowed his head. “Thank you Quejo. I will be there shortly. The Aedile bowed and left, his tan robes rubbing against the floor as he stepped. Jonuss Rai stepped to his mirror and stared at his reflection. Up until a few months ago his face had been hideously disfigured. During his trials as a young Dark Jedi, his master had ripped his left eye out and forced him to create a new one using a Dark Side technique. It was an eye made of pure rage and functioned much like his original had but with a few added tweaks. Recently, however, Jonuss had lost that eye as well. With the power of the Light, he healed what had been long gone and through meditation and focus, re-grew his original eye, healing even the scar from the wound itself. That was how his brothers and fellow Sons had known that he was no longer one of them. That is how they had known that he had left the darkness and now lived in the light. There was only one place left for him to go… Odan-Urr.

      Jonuss entered the auditorium and stood before the assembled members of House Odan-Urr.  He approached the podium that had been set up on the stage and listened as the previously loud conversations slowly quieted as he took each step towards the dais.  He cleared his throat and the few remaining voices were silenced.

       “Members of House Odan-Urr, I am Jonuss Rai.  Some of you may know me, others may not.  I am a Jedi, like you.  I was once shadowed by darkness but now I stand before you bathed in the light.  The Force is my guide and it has taken me down a path that has led me to you.  I am Jonuss Rai, former Son of Sadow.  To follow the light I have given up that which had once been all I had; my anger.  Without it I was able to return that which had been taken from me.”  He pointed to his eye.  “I am not the man I once was.  I am living proof that through the Force, all things are possible.  This is what I am here to teach you.  I will guide you down the path of Light and help you whenever and however I can.  The Force has led me here.  As your Quaestor I will do everything within my power not to let you all down.  We all are here to serve you.”  He said waving his hand to include the assembled house summit.

        Jonuss stepped away from the podium and bowed to the house before leaving the room. 

                           =======================House News=======================

A couple of changes so far, I’ll be adding new things to the house over the coming weeks. We’ve got 3 competitions running right now in the house, I’d like to see more by the time I put out another report.

                         =====================Lessons from the Light=================

  Here is the section of my reports where I will post a lecture about the light side for you all.  Today's lecture is about the Jedi Code.

                                           There is no emotion; there is peace.
                                           There is no ignorance; there is knowledge.
                                           There is no passion; there is serenity.
                                           There is no chaos; there is harmony.
                                           There is no death; there is the Force.

These are the 5 precepts of the Jedi Code. Let's examine them piece by piece:

There is no emotion; there is peace: This is the focus of all meditations and interactions. It keeps a Jedi's mind focused on acting without being reckless.

There is no ignorance; there is knowledge: Knowledge is the greatest power in the universe. Without knowledge and understanding of that knowledge, a Jedi is quick to fear and is easily led down the path of the Dark Side. A Jedi should take every effort to continue learning every day.

There is no passion; there is serenity: Strongly connected to the first precept, this is a reminder to remain calm while dealing with every situation.

There is no chaos; there is harmony: The universe is united. The Force flows through every living being binding us all together. Nothing is random.

There is no death; there is the Force: Death is just another step on the path. When a Jedi dies, they become one with the universal Force. Death isn't an end, so a Jedi should never fear it.

Now take this lesson and meditate on what has been said.

                        =========================Projects=========================

•Master/Student program – We’re gathering masters to help teach the future of Odan-Urr. Join up today! •Knight Trials – An addition to the requirements for promotion for Journeyman ranks. They will be released when they are completed and fully approved by the house summit. •Apprentice Tournament – Combat between the Journeyman of Odan-Urr. This will be a regular competition we hold every few months for the younger members to show their stuff and get noticed.

                       =========================Transfers========================

We lost about half of the house because of the AWOL check. But here are the individual transfers we’ve had recently: •Enapace transferred out of Odan-Urr to Revan •Ma`ar-Tyrius Ga-Tir transferred out of Odan-Urr to the Rogues.                       =========================SA Tests========================

•Before transferring, Enapace passed: ACC Basics, IRC Basics, Training Saber Course, Wiki Basics

         I'd like to see some more tests done.  These are a great way to get noticed and some of them are actually useful in more than just the DB (wiki, html, et cetera).  I'm also planning on getting some Light Side tests made up so that we're not relying totally on the teachings of the Dark Side.  If anyone has any ideas for a test or would like to come up with something that hasn't been done before, then by all means run it by me or make it up and try to get it approved by the SA.  I am more than willing to help however I can.

                       ==========================Closing==========================

Not a bad first week as Quaestor. Believe me, I’ve had worse. I’ll be running some competitions to get everyone going and having fun. If you want to run a competition, run it by me and if I give it the thumbs up, go for it. I want everyone to be able to run competitions and to be able to do things to support the house in both the participation side of things and the behind the scenes side. May the Force be with you.
