Introduction

Quiet month so far, Pilus. Seems like some of us are falling away.

We are the Blade of Plagueis. We are the best. Each and every one of you is on this team because, when all is said and done - when all obstacles are pushed aside and all the excuses slapped down - you continue to prove my point. If you are challenged, you surmount it. If you lack a skill, I’ve seen you all learn and change to fit the need. We are the first line of defense and the embodiment of this House’s spirit. Plagueis can be great; Plagueis can grow to be the First Clan one day, given the right treatment. We can deliver that.

But only if we remain strong.

I do not ask much of you; have some fun on here. Enjoy this club, remember why it drew you in. Participate not because you have to, but because you damn well can. We are Primus Pilus, the Blade of Plagueis, and in that sense we cannot fail; it is something I myself have lived, something you can all do. We are Plagueians; we are Ascendant.

We can withstand anything. We can defeat anyone.

Now, on to the news.

News and Changes

We have some large announcements this month.

First of all, there’s lots of ToR news. If you’re interested, go read the damn news page; this is a report about Pilus, by Pilus, for Pilus, and every one of us is capable of finding out for ourselves. I will, however, point out Varoth and Jpc of our very own Plagueis - two Novices who were among the first members to defeat the Eternity Vault and Karagga’s Palace on Nightmare Mode. That’d be another Server First for Keller’s Void, our server, and make no mistake: Arcona may shine with the glory of victory on ToR. Taldryan and Naga Sadow might take praise.

But there always seems to be a few Plagueians in the group. Portents of the future, gentlemen. Signs of our upcoming greatness; we just need to get out there and take it.

The ACC Championship Ladder is about to begin; I will, obviously, be representing Plagueis in it. Any of you who is ACC qualified should do so as well. Will it be an easy win for Plagueis? Hell no. Has it ever been? Hell no. Yet here we stand, surviving and thriving. If you are qualified for the ACC, I expect you to try for this. Why? Because it will show the entire DJB that we are not afraid to step up and try. It will show the Clans and the larger Houses that we are not afraid of them.

It will show them that one day very soon, it is them that will be afraid of us.

We have a new Rollmaster in Plagueis. Starrett steps up, a veteran of Old Plagueis ready to take up a role much changed. He Adapts; he will Ascend and Avail in time. Get in touch with him if you want a Master/Student, or because I fucking well told you to. :P

Seriously. He’s the Left Hand of Plagueis; get to know the guy. Show some love.

Furios has recently gone through some medical trouble; not my place to elaborate, so go ask him and he can tell you if he pleases. In light of this, we both need to give him a chance to relax and recover and need to move forward. To that end, and because he’s been advancing well, I have appointed Koga Kage to Flight Leader Superior while Furios assumes Minor to rest. When he’s back at full steam, I look forward to seeing him attack things once more. Be wary of getting too relaxed, Kage; Furios’ll be coming for you.

Finally, drum roll please...

Oath is finally out!

I will elaborate on our next competition series below. If any of you feel the sudden urge to stop reading and go compete your faces off, I won’t stop you.

If you don’t, go get a coffee, gramps. :P

Achievables: Bleep-Bloop

Yes, shameless RvB reference. Like it.

Two of our members this month have been working hard. So, to list them off:

  • Zuser Whuloc:
  • Dark Cross for creating Kyber Xant.

*Starrett(gets a mention because keep reading): - Dark Maven: Leadership - Leadership Fundamentals - Astronomy Studies - Pre-Republic History - Brotherhood History I - Brotherhood History II - Combat Tactics I - Combat Tactics II - Crescent with Sapphire Star - Anteian Cross

All of this was done while he was in Pilus. I never had to ask him to do any of it. Outdo him. I dare you.

Oath

The bloody history of Primus Pilus rolls forward as we continue with our Origins series of competitions. Several of our members are already officially considered part of the team; Unus Domus, this team’s founder and all-around bad-ass Webmaster, has been Etched to the Blade already and is remembered as the team’s leader during the fiction. I am not present in these events; all of you still can be.

For our main event, we have Oath. This Run-On begins today, when I place the first post upon the Message Forum. You have a month for this competition and its two side events; I expect it well-used. You need a minimum of three posts to be considered a participant. I can see all of you successfully posting four or five times at least. I know you can do it and so do you; don’t stop yourselves. Go all-out; let free the beast, and let me handle the editing as needed when it’s over.

Next up, we have Dire Secrecy; this is a poem on the nature of Pilus before we were even a Battleteam. In the storyline, during our guerrilla days, we’d have needed to meet in secrecy, not always in good locations and almost never with ideal provisions. Write me a poem on the nature of this gritty, tense secrecy. Three stanzas minimum.

What’s a Stanza, you ask? To which I answer: Use a goddamn Google search.

Finally, we have Stolen Teachings. This competition is flavored to be in the vein of stealing lore and intel from those who would hoard it and rise up against the Summit; Pilus is the Blade, and supports the Dark Council’s chosen Quaestor and his Left and Right Hands. To that mentality, this is about completing Shadow Academy exams; the most exams wins, with a Dark Maven counting for three exams and a Dark Savant counting for five. Hell, get a Dark Sage, I’ll call it ten.

If you’re currently worried that you’ve done too many SA exams already to stand a chance, then I suppose you have the time to kick ass at poetry and Run-Ons, huh?

Get to it, boys. Practice bruises today are dead enemies tomorrow.

Thoughts

Why are we here?

The Dark Brotherhood was, at the age of sixteen, an escape for me; when everyone in my small town was a dick or a crackhead, when my parents were busy or otherwise troubled, and when my brother wasn’t very brotherly, I would turn to the computer. It has since morphed from a source of stress relief to a place of greatness. I want to be a professional writer at the end of this race; the Brotherhood has taken my mediocre and make it exceptional. I’ve always wanted to be social with people; really socializing on IRC, combined with some movies, have taught me skills I missed as a child. I’ve since developed quite a social life and the ability to persuade nearly anyone into anything.

Today, the Brotherhood isn’t an out. It’s a place to have fun, enjoy nostalgia, and prove my skills. Not because I need to; because I want to.

What is this place for you? Why are we here? Comments or email replies welcome. If not, I take your silence for activity and am thus still pleased.

Conclusion

  • Plagueis is indestructible. Pilus is the best of Plagueis. That makes you all unstoppable.
  • DJB TOR raid groups continue to do wonderful things. Usually under Plagueian leadership and support. Here’s to the unsung Ascendant champions of the Brotherhood.
  • The ACC CHL Ladder is coming out soon. Show them all that you can’t defeat the will of Plagueis.
  • Starrett carved a nice chunk out of the DJB before rising to PLA RM. Get to know him.
  • Zuser got a Dark Cross for doing some very sexy House-level stuff.
  • Furios has taken injury; ask him for specifics if you really must know. Koga’s FL/S... for now.
  • Oath is out, along with Dire Secrecy and Stolen Teachings. Go get ‘em.
  • Why are we here? What is the Brotherhood to us, and why do we stay? Think on it.

Until next month, gents. Get to it.
