-> Report #1 - January 13, 2013 (yes, I need a report header) <-
Introduction I am Shadow Taldrya. Long-time member. Lots of positions. I thrust, I bend, etc. Want more? You can always force yourself to read my dossier or wiki page... I've never actually gotten around to reading the latter, but someone should. Since I'm still trying to sort out current, past, and future ACC-related projects, this report is more to touch base then to actually report on anything.
For those of you concerned about future reports, I can guarantee you one thing and one thing only:
I will not post report fiction unless someone physically forces me to do so. Now to the walls of text.
__ _ __** <-
Overview of Immediate Plans My ultimate goal as Combat Master is to make the ACC more accessible and user-friendly. Over the past few years, interest in the Center has dwindled and there is rarely more than 2-3 matches a month outside of vendettas. The core concept behind the ACC is good and it has a lot of potential to be a major Brotherhood activity, but things need to be streamlined. Part of this is site-related. It should be easier for both members and staff to complete battles. Another part is the systems in place for judging and posting.
To those of you who are wary, or openly hostile to the idea of change in the ACC let me reassure you. The nature of the ACC will not change in the future. It has been, and always will be, a place for you to textually duel other members of this club. Winners will still be determined by writing quality and the basic process for posting will remain the same. I've been a participant of the ACC for more years than I can remember (literally) and I have no desire to reinvent the wheel.
As far as immediate plans go, what Sarin outlined as requirements for the job will be what I'm most focused on. This includes reviewing all the current ACC information, updating/consolidating said information, hiring and training new staff, and developing a rubric and manual that's available to both staff and members. Once we accomplish these goals, the ACC will be back on its feet.
<-
ACC Status When Combat Master was opened for applications, Sarin suspended all ACC activity. Unfortunately, that will remain the status quo until the ACC can be brought up to code. I can't give an exact date on when this will be, but it will be the major focus of both myself and my (future) staff.
The reason we want to get the ACC up to speed and running again so quickly is because there is a major vendetta happening in the near future. In fact, almost 100 people just signed up for the Prologue Run On, so that's a fairly decent indicator that things are going to get pretty crazy around here.
I and my future staff, will be working closely with the major players (the people who lead us) to put together some form of ACC event so everyone can get their fill of textually murdering one another. Since I've been working with Sarin as his Praetor, we've already discussed some potential ideas on how to make this fun and interesting. Expect to hear (read) more about that as the Crusade starts ramping up. Until then, focus all that pent-up frustration into your Run Ons!
<-
Qualification Battles Qualification Battles will remain on hold. As these are an important part of the ACC and work as promotion requirements, my goal is to get information reviewed and sorted as soon as possible. The ACC Staff will also be working on training new judges for the purpose of conducting qualification matches. Hopefully we'll be able to get this wrapped up before any ACC events begin. If not, we may have to investigate ways to promote all members to "temporary status", as has been done for vendettas in the past.
<-
Staff As Sarin mentioned, the Staff is getting a complete wipe. This is not for any reason related to the individuals who have been carrying the ACC of late, but more so we can get fresh eyes for both the information overhaul and the revamp. That said, I will NOT be accepting applications for staff positions at this time. I am currently gathering information and selecting a skeleton crew to help me with meeting Sarin's requirements. If and when there becomes a need for a larger staff, I will make with the announcements and promises of wealth, power, and women/men (preference) to gain your loyalty.

Closing Change isn't always going to be welcomed, especially in the Dark Brotherhood. However, sometimes things reach a point where they've become stagnant or haven't adapted to the times. The ACC is still an important source of activity for writers of this club and a part of the changes planned for the future will include listening to some much-needed feedback from the membership.
To this end, I'm going to make use of the forums (yes, I just learned we still have them too!) and open up an ACC Suggestions topic. The aim is to crowd source ideas and general opinions on the current state of the ACC and what people think it should or could be. This will just be for posting opinions--any opinion is welcome--and not a place for you to defend your view or attack others for theirs. I'm sure when that fancy new Forum Tribune is appointed, he or she will be moderating like a pro, so let's keep the posts focused.
Aside from that, I'm always available for questions or comments. If you want to talk, you can try me on IRC (I'll try to use my "non-away" nick more often) or via email.

Eh. I guess this won't suck? :P
I cant wiat to see what you do with the ACC.
I'm excited to see the changes as they continue. Will the ACC get a full site rebuild sometime in the future to help with this, or are you planning to work inside of the current site design?
I believe the current ACC site is already at the limits of what it can do. It was coded many years ago in a language that isn't as easy to work with as what is available now. The plan is for a full site rebuild similar to what the main DB site is getting, so we can implement all the fun little headache-saving ideas without wrestling with old code. This, of course, is in planning for the (hopefully) near future. Until then, we'll work with what we've got and focus on Dark Crusade-inspired ACC events over regular "anything goes" matches.
