Month In Review

Phew. It's been one busy month.

146 exams were passed since my last report. That is a lot. In fact, it is more than double what I saw the previous month. Do you think we can increase that number again before the March Headmaster report? Help the Academy beat this goal by taking a couple of exam over the course of this month.

My excitement for the new website is growing. With every new feature and exterminated bug, my respect for James and his team increases and my dreams involving the new site become more frequent. Okay maybe that is a little over the top, but the beta site is epic and you should email James if you are interested in testing it out.

Projects are ticking along nicely. Some slower, and others faster than expected. I'm pleased with how the SA team is working together.

Dark Crusade Prologue: Shadow Academy Corruption

The winning entrants for this competition all submitted their answers within three minutes of each other. This made me relearn something: competitions that use time as part of the grading shouldn't be judged from the time the competition starts, but the time between you getting the instructions and submitting your answer.

Luckily, the beta site (which will one day magically morph into the live site) has built in functionality to achieve this, and I also have a system for my own competitions and events in place for the time being.

Enough waffling, the winners are:

• 3rd - Ood Good work guys, enjoy your First Level Crescents. There ended up being a total of 40 entrants, and you three proved to be the fastest of the bunch.

Dark Crusade

It's just around the corner. I'm excited. Are you? You damn well should be.

Dark Crusade is going to provide a LOT of opportunities for you to show the Brotherhood, your unit and yourself what you are made of. It is something that has never been attempted before and will be one of those events that go down in history, looked back on fondly with hazy nostalgia.

This is YOUR opportunity to be a part of that history, to help shape it.

Demonstrate your mettle, and you will be rewarded. Perhaps you will perform feats so tremendous that you will recieve a field promotion. Your fate is in your hands. Get stuck in.

Journeymen Promotion Requirements

Yes, with the ACC closed, and a standing "no fly zone" for competitions, some promotion requirements for Journeymen are currently unobtainable. As Korras said, if you are looking for an alternative requirement, or to have a requirement waived, drop him a line.

I do have one suggestion which may ease the load however. Rather than hosting competitions, formulate an idea (or ideas) and submit it to the Dark Council. Who knows, your idea may even be used as an event during the Dark Crusade. Either way, if I see the ideas I will write a recommendation to be added to the pool for your promotion that would normally require you run a competition.

The ACC Basics exam had been taken down. It is now take-able again (you will find it in the Docent Halls) for the purpose of fulfilling promotion requirements.

Looking For Course Authors

Are you a deft hand in one of these two areas: Google Drive/Docs and Markdown (if you have to ask what this is, then you are not a deft hand)?

Are you keen on writing one or more Shadow Academy courses?

Go Use The Forums

Socks was announced as the Forum Tribune earlier this week, and she has already done a great job re-organizing the forums.

Go pay them a visit and post a few times. Who knows, you may even have fun. I frequent them, so if you want to be sneaky you can ask me a question on there and see if I respond.
