I'm currently sitting in a noisy server room, watching progress bars slowly march along and trying to listen to music through semi-noise cancelling headphones. What better of a time to type out a report than this?
All things considered, it has been a pretty busy month (and a bit). 304 exams were passed or retaken. Not the 1,000 we had seen the previous month, but that a huge (tiring) effort on everyone's part. A number this high is truly commendable.
If you took an exam recently, give yourself a pat on the back. If not, suffer a disappointed glare next time I see you on IRC (lol.)
A few "old timers" have also resurfaced recently. If you see Orv or Aabsdu (and I'm sorry if I missed anyone…) make sure you say hello.
Speaking of Aabsdu, when I put out the call for applications for a new Professor, he was one of the first to apply. Not only was his a very good application, but he also had a lot to do with originally creating the History exams he will now be grading.
Welcome back to the SA, Aabs.
But wait, wasn't Rosh in the spotlight last time?
Well, yes he was, but he is defiantly deserving of having it shone on his a second time.
Rosh was awarded an Amethyst Kukri. But why? Read the recommendation, quoted here:
For the longest time the Shadow Academy's Department of CORE studies has been left with a gaping void. A new house, featuring a new breed of member, was introduced to the Brotherhood three years ago. With the house came three new Orders for members to align with, but those Orders has no CORE courses to accompany them. Members of those orders were forced to study their dark counterparts in order to progress.
Thanks to Rosh Nyine, this is all about to change. Nyine has written three new courses: Consular CORE, Guardian CORE and Sentinel CORE. The sum of all of these courses is 9346 words. Those words are a combination of research (using Wookieepedia, the DJB Wiki, RPG sourcebooks and other references) and original fiction where the orders had holes or work was needed to tie them into the Brotherhood.
What's more, Nyine completed this project in under a week. This allowed us to hand over the work to be proofread in a timely manner, enabling us to bring these courses to the Brotherhood much sooner than we had anticipated. What has also sped up this process is the quality of his work. Despite taking such a short time, fewer corrections were made during the proof reading process than some courses we've had in service for years.
Nyine's dedication, speed, and accuracy have been a great boon to the Shadow Academy. His work will live on for years being one of the first things a new recruit to the Brotherhood reads.
Sitting in a room as loud as this isn't conducive to creating a list as long as the one that would end up being here, so I will highlight the most notable degree awarded this month:
Teu managed to (finally) get her Dark Sage: Law degree
… just kidding. My lips are sealed and so are all those "in the know." Do keep your eyes open though.

Old timers?!?
Congrats Rosh! Very interested to take your new courses!
Old timers? Aabs is a total newb :P
Hence the quotes lol. Both were dudes I considered legends when I was new to the DB.
Is this where I tell you that you've been here for 2-3 years longer than they have? :P
Damn new people. :P
Newer is always better ;)
The second you realise you think you're an old timer, you're probably not.
