XWA and XvT Matches

It has come to my attention that once again people are not following the rules of engagement edicted down from the Lord Marshalls office. IT is important that these are followed to ensure fair game play and that people are not being taken advantage of. Please before engaging in any more matches go read them. It only takes a few min. of your time. Here is a FAIR example of an XWA match.

Demos vs. Bloodfyre

10 min total match

5 min on Demos Host Demos scores 8 Blood scores 10

5 min on Bloodfyre's Host Demos Scores 11 Blood Scores 8

Total up the two 5 min serves for 1 match.

Match Total Score: Demos 19 Blood 18

Demos wins by 1.

That is a fair XWA match... reason being for XWA 1v1 there is a phenominia called HOST LAG. Have you ever been flying and you could hit them dead on and see the flames and nothing happens? That's called ghosting and you have to guess where the person REALY is. This is why we split the matches on each person's host. There are exceptions like if some one can't host because of a router it is possible for some one to bite the bullet and host all 10 min. but knowing that puts them at a disadvantage. No more 5 min matches on 1 host being a match. This is not fair play.

The official Rules of Engagement can be found here.

Note that these rules like the each player must host for 5 minutes can be bent provided each player agrees. Also and feel free to correct me but the default craft for MP combat is the T/I unless the players agree to use different ship.

The goal is for everyone to play on an even playing field. Keep it simple and have fun.

Quick clarification: 1) The Rules of Engagement are kind of wank in some respects. :P 2) Those are the default rules. If the players agree to other specifications, they can ignore the RoE. It's if the players can't agree, they play according to the RoE. 3) The RoE may be getting an update. I have to get in touch with Shai, Mike and Demos on this.

Much as I hate to agree with BF, we only need these rules if people can't agree on their own set of rules.

For example personally I am not bothered about winning so I perfer to host all the match as it saves the hassle of logging off and logging back on to a different IP.

Please please try to remember the first aim of any activity is to have FUN not just to promote competition between members.
