When Mav first approached me about being CoG I was skeptical at first. CoG was always a dead-end job and the guard was usually inactive for the most part. We all know this was because the guard had no real sense of purpose and was nothing unique, so it had no appeal to it. However, before I rejected Mav's proposal outright I thought things over a bit. Then, I realized this would be the ideal position for me. I can run a society where both gaming and fiction are at the core and only deal with the most active members. So for all of you that think the guard is just going to dwindle some more and I'll go quickly into the night like most CoGs do, I have news for you. That's not going to happen. I have lots of fun activities and competitions planned for the new and improved Royal Guard, so you'll want to join the guard to find out all about them. Also, I have some projects I plan to get moving on, which I will outline quickly below.
RG Website! The last time I remember the RG having a website was when Shadow was CoG over 2 years ago. There may have been one since, but I sure don't remember any. I'm trying to find the template that Shadow used that Rizlib designed, since it was a nice design. I'd prefer to spend my time working on more important stuff than designing a new site, since I tend to get bogged down when I do that. However, one will be up before long one way or another.
Write a compendium. Hopefully, this will help keep things stable from CoG to CoG by including all the RG's issues like recruitment, points system, standard competition rules, and some past history as well.
Revise the DSC entry. I looked at this the other day and it's still listed as the Grand Master's Royal Guard with the members just guarding the Grand Master. It also still lists Jedi Knight as a platform. I mean I love Jedi Knight and all, but no one really plays it anymore for sure.
These are just some of the small projects I have planned. Other stuff I am keeping for Royal Guard members only, so you'll want to join for sure. :P This also brings me to the point of joining the guard. Currently I will be accepting no new applicants, since I need to get the recruiting process sorted out a little better than the current system is. I will post here on what to do when I have it all worked out.
Well that's it for my first post. Royal Guard members check your inbox. There will be something in there tonight.

Uh yeah, we do play JK still :o))) Every now and then if the right opponents happen to meet up.
Can we use ACClive! in RG gaming comps now?
That's my point, when the right opponent shows up, which is not very often. Therefore, not much of a supported platform when it comes to competitions and such. I will look into ACCLive.
Theres an RS guy thats always looking for a match of JK...
And its rather difficult to join the Royal Guard as is, as you have to find an open cell, and someone willing to take you... and some DC members dont even have a guard cell at all (making them much easier to assassinate). That further limits the available seats in the Royal Guard...
Yes, I'm working out a better method of joining the guard, so don't get your panties in a wad about that.
Congratulations, Commander.
Hopefully, you got some unsuspecting App to clean out Jasru's....ummm...laundry.
I'd also like to see SWGB get supported, but there may not be enough demand for it.
Good luck!
Weldone, Shar! :)
It takes skill to get into the guard let alone be the CMDR ;)
Too bad you're not accepting beer boys atm. I could have myself a job :/ And no, I'll be good, and leave the slabs alone if I'm employed :P.
SWGB is supported atm, in theory. Means like JK, you can play if the right opponent shows up :o)
Wanna play sometime? Find me on a gaming night :o)
Indeed, SWGB has a significantly larger following than JK... I play (sometimes), Reaper2004 plays, Drodik plays... Shan Long plays... and doubtless others...
I'm not sure it will really be supported. That seems too much to ask. Games take hours, so working it into any kind of competition would be more than a little difficult. Besides the fact that only a handful of people play it. But I suppose I am open to the possibility if I do happen to see enough interest.
