Some Gaming Night and Sunday Tournament clarifications for the few of you who still havent managed to grasp the new rules that have become standard for the entire Dark Brotherhood.
Firstly, the Rites of Combat Basically a list of multiplayer rules that are being enforced for all major DB events. If you want the matches you play to count towards earning Clusters of Fire or Tournament Points than you had better follow the RoCs they were written for a reason. Not following them will get your matches ignored and get you possibly investigated for cheating.
Just to outline two of the most ignored/important rules I will paste them into this news post. They are as follows:
_To be able to participate in a competition you must be in the channel that the competition is being hosted from. No hiding in clan or other channels to exclude people from getting matches. If you are not present in the channel but are reporting matches they will be discounted
To refuse a challenge you must have a good reason, which you will have to verify with the person in charge of the competition in question. If youre playing during a competition but deny certain people matches you will be disqualified from said competition and the Chamber of Justice will have a talk with you about sportsmanship. _
Both of these are important to keeping things fair for all members. If you report matches but have never been on IRC or have never been in the channel #gmrg I can only assume youre making them up or worse (to my mind at least) youre avoiding matches against people you cant beat or just dont like by sticking to your more private Clan or House channels. I cant stress enough how much I hate people who do that. When Korras gets back I have to talk to him about a number of things related to the gaming stuff and one of these things will be punishments for members who violate the RoCs (well of course have to talk to the CoJish people as well.)
Secondly, the match report system is in place so all members have a chance to view what everyone else is doing and what theyre reporting. Saving your match wins/losses and reporting them at the end of the day is not only annoying for me going through the process of awarding medals and points, but it pisses off people who like to be able to see what theyre total W/L ratio should be if they lose to you. Not to mention if you dont report matches immediately after playing them youre more likely to screw up the report. This, as well as a few other things, will be being added to the RoCs as soon as Korras gets back. Having heard some of the problems people have been having lately I feel we need to write some addendums to keep things running smoothly.
I hope that helps enlighten a few people on what is now expected of them if they are to compete in these Gaming Nights. Also, for those of you interested, Pyralis and I have been given the green light to begin work on what I have been affectionately calling the Idiot-Proof Gaming Night System. It will be coded into the new site and should eliminate a lot of problems we currently have. Especially when it comes to reading through results and rewarding members what they actually deserve. It will also add in some important new features such as bonuses for team matches (I know Pyr does that for the ICTE but with the way the database reports matches it makes it insanely difficult for me) as well as putting in place a Soft Cap ruling on matches played. This will eliminate the 3 or 6 match limits we currently use and instead youll get a decreasing number of points per win after a certain amount. Think the system used belatedly in the last GJW.
Anyways thats enough from me. Enjoy the Sunday Tournament Qualifiers are listed below.
