Greetings!
Windos asked me yesterday if there was any way that members could receive news posts via email. I initially thought to learn how to set up an RSS feed, but neither Rax nor I had done that before. So in pondering it today, and I don't know why this idea didn't come to me before, I thought to create a news posting mailing list.
A long time ago, we used to have a news service called the Holocron. DC members would post weekly news to it and it would go out every now and then. Well, I am reinstituting the Holocron, this time with Google Groups.
A quick bit of coding set up the site to email the [Log in to view e-mail addresses] mailing list any time someone posts news. This mailing list is open for joining, and only the moderators (the site, and me) can post to it.
If you would like to receive news post updates via an email mailing list, please send an email with "subscribe" in the subject to the following address:
[Log in to view e-mail addresses]
You can also visit the group's page at: http://groups.google.com/group/DBHolocron
We will add more functionality to this later, including giving people an option to send updated news items to the list as well. We also plan to give people a sign up link on their Administration Menu. That will come later.
Enjoy! Let me know if you encounter any trouble or have any questions.
Jac
You need to be logged in to post comments

LOL.
Just 2 days ago I thought about trying to do some RSS feed for the DB news. :) And now as I read this news I was amused. Maybe I can come up with that.

A friend of mine suggested it. I got through five lines before I said "screw it" and decided to play around with Dibenzo[jk,uv]dinaphtho[2,1,8,7-defg:2',1',8',7'-opqr]pentacene isomers.
I understood him- bah, organic chemistry! heh. Good idea on the list thing.
