Debate Rules Clarifications

I've received some questions regarding the debate event. Hopefully this will clear things up.

Sorry for the confusion. My intention was to have the Pro side post first to keep with a traditional debate format, but given the limited timeframe of the event, it's not possible. I should have clarified that or left it out entirely. The time constraints of the RoS have forced me to compress a "normal" debate format down into something that can be finished within the 15 day Vendetta.

The concept is to simply support your side of the argument as well as you can. If your opponent posts first and you are able to respond to their argument in your own, great. If you have to post first, even though you may be the Con side of the debate, it's something you'll just have to work with in the time constraints. I didn't feel shortening the time allotments to post below 48 hrs would even be a possibility given the time required to form a team, argument, etc., so 48 hrs was seen as the best time limit to use and still manage to come in under 15 days.

To further clarify:

Both sides have 48 hrs from the start of the RoS to post their particular side, Pro or Con. Ideally Pro would post first, this may or may not happen, but it'll work either way. So, Clan X and Clan Y will both post opening statements supporting their particular side within 48 hrs of RoS start. Once 48 hrs expires, both Clans will have another 48 hrs to examine the opposing sides' argument and post a rebuttal with closing statements.

This way, each round will only take 4 days to complete with the entire competition running 12 days.

As for questions of "in character" posting. Simply have fun with it in an RP fashion. For instance, rather than citing a "real-life" source, such as the novelization of Revenge of the Sith, refer to the events therein in their historical context. I.E., from records gleaned of the Battle of the Grand Convocation Chamber...etc. Those "records" are the book. But we're RP'ing it for fun, so just cite it in that sense.

If your team wants to wrap their argument in fictional prose like a short story, that's fine as well. As long as we can identify your argument within the "story".

The thing here to remember is: have fun with it.
