Apply for Left Hand of Justice!

The term for our current Left Hand of Justice, has almost run it's course. Raken has been an excellent LH and the CoJ is sad to see him go, but the Covenant is a cruel boss and fires the HoJ's every six months. So, I will be taking applications for the Left Hand of Justice position.

Here are the criteria you must meet to apply:

_-Rank of at least DJK

-Past DB leadership experience

-Must have passed the DB Judicial Certification Course

(in the past, or you can take it now)_

I would prefer some "legal" experience as well, such as classes taken in school, etc - but this is not a requirement.

Include all the typical application information, and email them to me by Sunday, August 12th.

I see no point to this 6-month term for RoJs rule. If someone is doing a well job in a position, as obviously Raken is doing, he shouldn't be removed due to his time has "expired". Completely pointless in my opinion, correct me if there is a good purpose to this.

This six-month rule has been in practice since the Split. I was Yack's LHoJ initially, and though he (at that time) had thought about ignoring the rule, he wanted to set the precedent to have the position rotate through good individuals to get a range of experience and viewpoints in the CoJ, and also to prevent the CoJ from being dominated by one set of people, one set of viewpoints, etc.

This rule is a good rule, and should be continued permanently (as should be expected). Persons who have served well and have benefitted the CoJ are not barred from serving again in the future, and may apply later on. However, Raken just has to wait another six months to apply, if he feels like being a part of the CoJ again. Same as anyone else.

So thanks, Raken.

I normally don't agree with BF cuz he's pretty much wrong 99.9% of the time but in this case, he's exactly correct.

Hmm, okay, I see your point. Thanks Bloodfyre and Kaek. :)

hmm, To bad I have only been in the Brotherhood for just over a month and have only managed to scrape out the rank of Guardian. Disqualified.

Never held a DB leadership position, but being a Sergeant of Marines Leading over 120 men in combat is not looked at. Disqualified.

I passed the SA course so thats a start 1/3 requirments met. Qualified

So I guess I will come and check back in 6 months.

  1. A month in DB means nothing. It still an adaptation period where most members have to be guided as to what to do around here. Going Rogue is quite frequent at this point. Those who reach the rank of DJK are generally considered interested enough in the Brotherhood to stay for a long time.

  2. Leadership of a group of adults who are bound under contract is different than leading a bunch of DB members. Also, DB positions have much more to do with management than with leadership.

  3. If you want the position of LHoJ so much, apply anyway and try to prove you are good enough for the job. Don't whine on the news comments about the requirements.

I agree with the above, I mean Hermann Goering commanded far more men than that and I'm not sure he'd have made a good Left Hand of Justice.

It's a good rule and should continue to be followed. No exceptions.

Also I should point out that the rule is no "consecutive" terms as LHoJ. Meaning Raken or any past LH or RHoJ's can hold the post again...just not twice in a row.

Is there anything preventing Lefty and Righty from just swapping back and forth every six months?

Yeah, there is. A good Justicar. Kir wouldn't do anything like that. He's a fair person, and he works hard to ensure that the spirit of the Covenant is interpreted, and people are given equal opportunities.

I didn't mean to impugn Kir's name.

Merely pointing out a potential loophole.

BF is right, the JST is really what prevents the same people from holding it over and over.

However the Covenant only says nonconsecutive because when it was written, we knew that these positions would probably not get a lot of applicants every time, because not everyone is interested in the judicial side of the club. However these positions must be filled, and it was assumed that people would repeat in the position several times eventually.

And really, having people hold the position more than once is a good thing - they require no adjustment period, and they actually have experience doing the job - which could only help the CoJ operate better. You just want to avoid having a small group of people rotate through the positions, which we have done a good job of.
