CoJ Clone Progam Concluded

Most of you have probably noticed my news posts over the past months dealing with the Clone Amnesty program and several cloning cases in the Chamber of Justice. Cloning is not a new offense, it has been listed in the Dark Covenant for several years. However the CoJ has never actively sought clones out, it only reacted when clones were discovered. However, due to the increasing competitiveness of Vendetta events and the potential for cheating, the Chamber of Justice determined that a program should be started to eliminate all clones Brotherhood-wide.

This program was done in several steps - the first step being the public "Clone Amnesty" program, which you all saw my news posts about. The second step was a massive sweep of every recorded login to search for multiple dossiers which originated from single IP addresses, and discern which were due to cloning and which were due to ISPs, shared IPs, etc. The third step was Clone Amnesty Part II, in which all those who showed up on the clone match list were given a final opportunity to either explain the match, or plead guilty to cloning and receive merely a Letter of Reprimand. The final step was the prosecution of the members who appeared to be cloning, yet had not registered as a shared IP, or spoken up during Amnesty part I or II - the results of these cases were posted in my last report.

Overall the CoJ Clone Program was a success, deleting 24 clones and ensuring that future Vendetta events will have a clean slate. The Chamber will continue to do periodic sweeps, most likely directly before large competitions. In addition we will continue to respond to reports of any new clones that may emerge. In addition, any future clone prosecutions will include harsh sentences - we want our competitions here to be fair, and that means 1 character per person, that's it.

Finally reminders - if you share a computer with anyone (family member, friend, etc) and you haven't already registered with me, please do so. Also if you recruit someone at some point in the future and you share a computer, you need to let me know - that way you avoid being prosecuted for cloning.

If you have any questions about the Clone Program, the DB's cloning rules, or any general questions, feel free to email me.

Concluded, the clone war has. (c'mon, you all wanted to say it)

You forgot to delete the clone I registered. His name is Bloodfyre. :P

if you are guilty of having a clone, shouldn't you be demoted as well? :P

just so the Justicar knows im in the process of moving , and for this i sometimes sign on to a "Away" computer with a differnt ip add. i do not have a clone i just have different ip at certian times. i do not know if this will affect your effectiveness of your program but i thought i should put it out there.

What you're talking about is the opposite of what Kir was looking for - you are saying that you might have multiple IPs that log into the same account and he's looking for a single IP logging into multiple accounts. What you're talking about isn't evidence of cloning at all, if anything it would be a reason be suspicious of someone stealing your password and logging on as you. If Kir looks up my logins he'll see that I have at least two different IPs that logged into my account, maybe more, because I login at home when I'm there plus at school on my desktop and a few lab computers.

Having multiple IPs logging into the same account won't get you in trouble (unless, of course, you are the one who stole someone's login information and are using their account to do bad things), having a single IP logging into more then one account is what will put you under suspicion of cloning.

Correct.
