SW ToR: "Calender 2011 Release" Announcement

Greetings Brothers and Sisters,

As per my job as M:Fist, and after a tip off from our very own Ma'ar (Smoke to some of you), I went searching across the interwebs to find out that the upcoming BioWare MMO Star Wars The Old Republic has now been pushed back into BioWare's next Fiscal year. That means there is no planned release date until after April 1st, but still inside of the 2011 "Calender" year.

If and when anymore information is released, I'll make sure to keep everyone in the loop. Until then, I believe we can all take a collective knee and place ourselves in Darth Vader's shoes. All together now, "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!"

Well this isn't all together unexpected. That doesn't make it any less annoying though

Not as bad as I figured it would be, though.

Indeed, it is truly annoying. I figured that one would come eventually as we approached "spring", but I thought that the announcement would come with a hard date for release, not another giant window of infinite possibility... lol

The 1st of April. Perhaps it's an elaborate April Fools? :P

Like I explained to Fremoc this being delayed can only mean something better. If you follow Furiousfanboys.com, they posted the article about this as well...and the Developers claim they have no intentions to compete with WoW. Cause really....that just wont happen even in a perfect world. The article also claimed they needed 500,000 people to purchase and play this game to turn a profit.

500,000 x $80(Game and the first month fee's) comes out to $40,000,000 just the first month alone, and then followed by 11 more months at $20(or $220) so if the same amount of people(500,000) keep playing those 11 months( 1yr total) your looking at $110,000,000 {Can anyone say cash cow?} Whether or not they compete with WoW(Blizzard), EA will have a heck of a game on their hands!

What does this mean for ToR? Well delays are always a good thing, just figure its ironing out the details for a better game. Ive had a chance through a classmate to get several hours of beta testing on this, and overall Im pleased with what I have seen....NO I cannot release screens or video, the NDA made it clear of the penalties for being a retard. So I promised I wouldnt give info out, since Mr.X was a bit paranoid to allow me access to this game. What I will say is if you liked SWG(Star Wars Galaxies) you will find this a hit.

My only complaint about anything with the game, was the goofy scripting. This was personal preference. Beta testing is still going, so you never know if more people get called up or not...just cross your fingers.

My score? 8.5 or 10 (-1.5 for that scripting) Also the stats for the os requirements still hasnt been released, but the computer I was on was a dual core 2.1ghz, 4gb or ram, and a ATI on-board video chipset that had a dedicated 500mb or vram this alone allowed the game to run fine...so the small amount of what we know now is "some" older computers will run this fine

For those that want more info, I searched the forums for some stuff that Muz wanted clarification on regarding guilds, that however is very vauge. Something was stated that "Guild Ships" would be done well after the game was released..this is rumor in my opinion, but this is a good read for anyone that wants all the details on the workings of the game, ranging from species to classes.

Details here!
